Beautiful Dogos! Such sweet expressions on both of them.
Oooh, and your TM is absolutely adorable. I have a huge soft spot for the big hairy beasties. :)

My goodness- I'm a sucker for the furry ones, and have only just recently come across Tibetan Mastiffs (and lucky me- I *do* live somewhere reasonably cold).

I know it's a little off topic from the Dogos, but what are the temperaments generally like on the Tibetans? I've never been lucky enough to meet one in person, and I find them breathtaking.

Any good books on them?

gorgeous, currently im looking into either a bullybreed, protection breed (fila or dogo probably) or dane as my Big dog. i breed chis but being a 21 yr old living alone its a scary world. i love staffies but its difficult to find a great dog over here, and danes are awsome but aparently shed like thers no tomorrow...i love filas but i hear there REALY wary of ANYONE...and dogos are gorgeous but i need a breed that will be fine with the chihuhuas...hmmm choices choices (im also a dog trainer and VERY familiar with protection and bully breeds) why must all these dogs be so gorgeous...i want them all!

im also not usually a fan of ear cropping, but the short crop on your babies is very dignified and i guess in the area they come from this is still practiced due to them still being used for their original purpose.

Foxy Wench, Wait! One thing, Danes do not shed like there is no tomorrow. They shed no more than my Fila, maybe a little less. Just brush them everyday like any other dog. They are wonderful, wonderful dogs. If you do decide to get a Dane, make sure to socialize it a lot. People are under the impression they are wimp dogs. They are not! They are
Gentle Giants, but they do need to be socialized, if not, they can become overly protective. I know, I have had two. They do get along well with other dogs but they do have a dominant streak with dogs of the same sex. They are great at keeping you warm at night, and will love you with all of their hearts. But, as with any giant breed. you have to be prepared for the vet bills. It will cost you much more than a smaller dog. I love to watch a Dane run, they are so regal. Oh, and do not be surprised when you have company, your Dane will stand in front of you, not in line with you but the full body will be between you. It is their nature. Not a bad thing, just a trait of Danes.

Dogo Argentino is not the #1 breed for protection,They were developed for hunting big games, and they have very strong prey drive. They WILL protect you when you are a threatening situation, but personally I think Fila or any bullybreed are more suitable for protection work.

The Dogo is one of the top 10 breeds for protection work.

Trained properly they can make amazing Shutzhund dogs.

lol, i dunt know too much about the other bullies but staffies...lol, there silly monkies if the whole "a bully will invite him in, show him to the expensive items and then help him carry out"...from living with staffs and knowing many...there most likely talking about a staffy...they ADORE people! no doubt that in a life or deaf situation a staffy would protect you...but there definatly not to be considered a protection breed...
the only reason im not 100% certain of getting a staffy is the fact that to get form the bloodlines i like ill have to go back to england and fly back with the pup, and the fact that they tend to be dog agressive. socilization is the key yes but sometimes nature gets the best of them and being i have chihuhauas...yeah we all know what would happen if that situation was to arrise.

on the dane shedding thing, i agree to most its not much, but my chis barley shed, and my staffy back home barley shed either...my aunts danes however were amazing shedders compared to our dogs, even my parents cocker didnt shed as much as the danes...my cousins lab shed about as much as thedanes did and that was insane...
oh and danes dont live half long enough...my fave of my aunts danes lived till he was 8 years old and that was old for a dane and all i can think is thats just not long enough (remember again chihuahuas have one of the longest lifespans (15+ yrs) so im used to my dogs being around a LONG time lol. i know 5 years with a dane is worth every minute because of their personality...but i dunt think i could let go that soon...

and belive me i knwo they can be protective...you never cross a dane he may look silly but theres mastif blood in there...and they remember faces! lol.

im also trying to avoid the drool cloth lol.

but im realy partial to staffies so im probably gonna go that route...doesnt stop me dreaming though and filas, dogos and danes are all absolutly gorgeous!

btw LOVE the picture of the kitty cleaning the dogos ears...toooo cute!

Dogos are so gorgeous!! I am thinking about getting one, or a black dane, or a corso, or a bull terrier, or a white dobe. I know for a fact that rotties will always be in my future though.

If you want protection without training for it...the Fila is the way to go. Just watch out for redheaded ladies. These dogs seem to have a soft spot for them. lol I don't know why, neither does Renee, or Buckshot. But being a redhead, and Renee being a redhead, and little Buckshot jumping over a huge ditch to get to a redhead, to lick her, and then we must not forget Brutus humping my redhead client, or bumping a redheads rear in petsmart today it does make one wonder what is up with these vicious man-eating Filas. lol
