Dena, hugs for you and your daughter. Thank God she is basically OK, although she must be feeling very stiff and sore.

My daughter wrote her car off when she was 20 - it was a miracle she only came out with a broken arm. I do believe that she had angels watching over her - sounds like your daughter did to. So did the deer!

I'm glad your daughter made it thru with only minor injuries. Thank god she didn't go over the cliff. I hit a deer about 6 years ago on my way to work one morning. Two were running across the highway. I missed the first one and the nailed the second one. The front end of my car was gone. Needless to say I didn't go to work that day. The poor thing made it to the side of the highway. She laid there screaming, a highway patrolman happend to be on the highway at the same and he shot her to put her out her misery. I cried most of the day, it was horrible.

Oh I am so sorry to hear about your daughters accident. I always get scared when I dont hear from my daughter or when she is going to be late picking up the kids, the worst always goes through my mind. My hubby (he is a long haul truck driver and trainer) student last night hit a deer also. He told hubby that he was going to try and swerve but didnt have a chance and I am glad he didnt, as you cant swerve those rigs on a dime like cars and could of jack kniffed the rig and trailer.

Whew! Dena! That was close. So glad she's going to be okay. That back and neck will be sore and stiff for awhile, and finding a good chiropractor or osteopath could really help keep her from having more problems later on.

That "don't veer for deer" isn't necessarily good advice. A man in a neighboring county didn't swerve, hit the deer, and his mother in the passengers seat died from the deer coming through the windshield and flailing its hooves as it died.

Thanks so much everyone....I appreciate all of your hugs, concern and best wishes!! :) I can always count on you all.

I called Jaime that night about 8:30 pm and she said she was going to the grocery store all alone, and I told her I didn't like the idea of that and for her to be really careful and to call me when she was done. I told her "be sure to call because I'll really worry if you don't"!!! She said she would. I waited until about 10:00pm and she hadn't called so I called her. She didn't pick up her cell phone. I called about 5 more times and went to bed about midnight. Greg got up about the time I went to bed and I told him that I was worried....I couldn't go to sleep at all. That's when I got the phone call from her about 1:30 that she had been in a car accident. I just felt that something was wrong....it was a nerve wracking night for sure.

Another strange thing is that her airbag didn't deploy. She hit head on at about 40 miles per hour. Seems strange to me.

The insurance company also said that the wreck was her fault.

They classify the wreck as her fault so their liability isn't as great. That way YOU have to pay the deductible and they aren't required to "make her whole" as they would be if the accident were attributable to an outside factor. They're probably also going to cancel her or raise her rates significantly

Yep, if you swerve and wreck, then the insurance classifies it under the "collision" part of your insurance, where it's your fault. If you hit the deer, then they classify it under the "comprehensive" part, where it's not your fault and "unforseen." Unfortunate, no?
