I love this dog. He is so very smart (as Collies tend to be). He is not even a year old yet and he has gotten so big! Here is Tobias then and now!

I love rough collies, I used to date a guy who had a sable with the most gorgeous coat. That was about the only pretty thing about him, otherwise he was a mess...liver issues, never got more than 8 of his adult teeth. But a very sweet boy nonetheless!

I still entertain the idea of getting one someday, I just can't take the bark.

He is not a barker. I have him and 2 shelties. These are herding dogs. They will bark. They will bark out of control if not raised to understand that this is not ok. My dogs will bark to alert to "strangers" or anything that seems out of place, but once I have acknowledged what they are barking at I tell them "Enough" and that is that. I have had Collies for over 20 years now. They are great dogs. I think the only one that was an "out of control" barker was my first....and only because I didn't know how to avoid it. LOL

I've got an Aussie, I know about herding breeds and barking. ;) Sawyer is not an excessive barker by any means.

Collie barks are just so *sharp*, to me anyway. ANY barking by them just pierces right to the center of my brain it seems. I can handle Aussie barks, they're loud but a lower pitch it seems.

Oh! you meant pitch! Well then, I'm with you! They do have a higher pitch. It can be trying...even to those of us that love them! lol

Cute pup! I'm a sucker for blazes!

Regarding the bark, I've been blessed with Collies that do not have a piercing bark. Can't say how, because I too have heard the make-your-ears-bleed barks, but none of mine have ever had that. Their pitch is more like the canned bark they used in "Lassie". ;)

Very pretty dog! He looks so regal in the last two pictures.
^^ Same thought!! Those last two pictures he looks like a natural to be wearing a royal purple robe and a crown ... bejeweled crown, natch. ;)

On one of the earlier pics ... looks like he's claimed that poodle as his own pet. :D

He is a beautiful collie!! Always a sucker for rough collies ... one of the dogs I grew up with was a rough collie male.
