So finding a frenchie in a kill-shelter such a rare find, I thought of getting her, if my mom was ok with it, which I doubt it, but it has already been adopted out.
So I tell my friend, who's a one dog owner and who's dog is dog-selective so not sure if multiple dogs would be right for her. But she goes off saying that I wouldn't be able to give enough attention to all my dogs. Then she goes telling me how 'spoiled' her one dog is and all the attention she gets. WOW.
Her dog is super-spoiled, like gets away with anything. Now my dogs get away with things like destuffing things, so no they're not saints either, but she lets her dog be aggressive to guest and then baby-talks the dog saying 'no that isn't very nice'
So my dogs don't have a basket full of toys like her dog. They have a couple and OMG yes they have to share. They have two share two medium size beds too, its not like the beds were meant for one dog. I had to share things and I'm OK, I love my hand-me down Coach bags, ect. I doubt it the dogs care. Plus out of say the five toys they have, they only play with two. Valentino's favorite is this cheap 99 cent cuzz that the first night he squeaked it till 2 in the morning, now its every now and then and he would play with a sock and wouldn't care less. I don't see how you having more money to spend on your one dog, makes my dogs deprived and not spoiled? Yes I can't spend the amount of money you can on your one dog on all my dogs, but they really could careless.
Then she goes off saying I don't have 'time' for all my dogs.
I'm home all day, she goes to school.....so logically I do spend more time with my dogs. She walks her dogs when she feels like it. I walk my four dogs, yes wow, four dogs EVERYDAY. I walk two at a time, and even when I went to school and was working, I would walk the dogs before I went to work, and to took maybe say 10 minutes each walk, so 20 minutes out of my day?
I comb/brush them everyday, in total like 15-20 minutes a day. And I don't have time for my dogs?
No I'm not superhuman and can give them equally amount of time each day, but they have each other, they love their pack, and they love spending time with me too, but of course someone with one dog will have the advantage of spending more time with their dog, but my dogs have the advantage that they're not EVER lonely either. She goes out, her dog is *gasp* by herself....no attention! I go out my dogs HAVE EACH OTHER!
Valentino loves to be with me, but I would cringe of ever having him separated from his pack, he has to be atleast with one dog at all times. When he gets his bath, I have him go potty by himself prior to his bath without the distraction of the others, and he FREAKS, he wants to go back to the room with the company of the other dogs. Now when I'm with the other dogs, he's covering me with kisses, just because he likes being with the other dogs, doesn't mean he doesn't like to be with me either. I hate that the other dogs will have to pass on one day, because not only would it be hard for me, but for them as well.
Now having one dog before, sure its was cheaper and I could spend more money on one dog and not having to worry about rotating dogs to go to places or taking all the dogs to one place...but I will always have two or more dogs. Dogs also like the company of dogs as much as they do humans, and plus its much more enteraining, and they play with each other on the days you're to tired or can't play with them yourself!
I mean her dog eats whatever she eats, she doesn't care for the nutrition value, just that her dog is spoiled and gets fed human food. Oh and she also wants SIX kids . Which of course needs waaaaaaaaay more individual attention than having dogs!
Why is it acceptable to have a whole bunch of kids, but when it comes to dogs more than one or two and you're label as crazy? Had I had four or five kids, she wouldn't of said nothing. My mom has four and I don't think she should of had one child, let alone four. Some people shouldn't be dog owners, some shouldn't be multiple dog owners, but why am I so wrong for having 'so much' dogs, but its so norm for people to have more kids than I have dogs?
I mean first the expenses are waaaaaaaaay more than having a dog, and I don't have to set up time to teach my dogs their abc's and how to write their names and umm 13 years of education. Sure I have to teach them basic commands, but that only takes a couple of weeks, sure potty-train them, but that again a couple of weeks when it human babies takes much much longer. I can speuter my dog and not having to worry about unwanted litters, but your teenage daugther can get knocked up and wow you have another life on your hands, plus more expenses!
My dogs get more attention and are more cared for than most people with one or two dogs....sooo how again having more dogs=less attention?
ETA: I hate when people say ''how don't you get your dogs names mixed up having so many'' and other stupid stuff like that or because I have so much they find it shocking that they're all trained well-manner dogs and don't know how I had the time to train them all ...sometimes I feel like saying ''how don't you get your kids names mixed up?'' or ''are all your kids trained too?''.
