Ok I know you guys have posted about your mother in laws, well here's one for the record books.
My MIL is a hypochondriac, I am the total opposite. She has a health crisis of the day. My 4 year old was bitten by one of the pet rats I rescued a couple of weeks ago. Then about 4 days later he got sick. It was nothing to bad, just not feeling well, not even 24 hrs. The bite is almost completely gone and healed at this point. She called demanding I take Danny to the hospital because he has rabies. She says I don't care about the health of her grandchild in her condescending manor. I tried to tell her that if the rat had rabies it would be looking like cujo by now. She went through this hysterical speech about how animals can have rabies even at the pet store.
HELP ME ! She is usually nice but like dealing with a child. So, after talking to her about Daniels LACK of symptoms she started to cry and says " I just care ".  like I don't.

Well... plain and simple, tell her to can it. He's your kid, it's your family, you will do whatever you like.

Rob's mom is silly like that... here is a story for you.

As you know Johnny's birthday is coming up, well, every year before this year, we always would let Matt have presents too. This year we decided that is going to stop, and Matt could get only one toy, unwrapped. He is old enough to understand that him getting presents isn't making Johnny's birthday special at all. Talked to Matt about it, and he's cool with it.

So Mary calls me the day before yesterday to ask me what we are getting Matt for JOHNNY'S birthday. I told her that we aren't going to let Matt have gifts this year on Johnny's birthday, and she threw a fit. Told me he would remember it forever, he'd hate us forever, and he'd never understand. Then, she takes a deep breath, and says "It's your family, you do what you like."

Now I respect and love Rob's mom, but this woman can be quite crazy at times. I told her "Your D@MNED skippy about that" told her I loved her, and hung up. Simple as that... we have already talked it over and all is good now. She even apologized for making it seem like she didn't care for Johnny. Offered to take us out tonight for dinner for my birthday, too!

First time I met my mother in law she punched me in the face. I should have known then that the marriage was not going to work out. He hadn't bothered to tell me that his mother had some mental illness (which I personally believe he inherited).

Oh boy, I know what it's like having a difficult MIL. Ours is VERY giving, but likes to lecture all the time. She is what she is...and we deal with it.

Not to be on your case ....I wouldn't worry about rabies .... but did you check with your doctor ?? Isn't there a rat-bite fever or something ???
