mine doesn't either. lol....lazy. :) he will once in a great while, but usually doesn't bother (I really, really hate when he then hits the back of his front leg) he also doesn't mark territory. it's nothing to worry about....most do, but some just don't.

Neither Tips nor Boris do it either, but I guess they're still young. Definitely hate when they pee on themselves also, lol.

If they are neutered early enough, they usually don't lift their leg to piddle :)

Mine doesent. But I have had male dogs who only lifted their legs when they were marking their territory. So that could be a factor too.

Frodo just discovered leg-lifting yesterday  . It looks really funny because his legs are so short and he tries to pee really high on the trees and he falls over sometimes :p .

Actually, I heard it had something to do with dominance.
A more submissive dog often won't lift his leg and won't pee very high, while a more dominant, confident dog will lift his leg and pee higher.

You're right Tuck ...Chip was neutered young so only lifts his leg to mark.... it's a riot when you have several dogs ( even females ) marking a new scent...each one higher. Supposed to show the size of the dog...the last one usually did fall over !

Ronin (intact male, 2 years old) will squat to empty his bladder, but will lift his leg to mark (and sometimes empty if he doesn't reeeeeally have to go).

Ilsa, my female, is really funny though - she'll mark when we're out on hikes... and will even sometimes lift HER leg to mark - now that's a funny thing to see... a male dog lifts a leg to mark, then a female comes up and tries to mark higher... :D
