Anyone have Curly hair? Well I do and..... I never wear it curly because it always looks aweful. And when I do wear my hair curly it takes more time and more effort than washing my hair every morning, blowdrying it upside down and then straightnening it.

I have tried lots of products and nothing seems to work.. and I am getting fed up..SOO do any of you lovely ladies have any secrets or use an awesome product, because I am getting so annoyed with my hair! AUGH!

ive found with mine the more i do to it, the more poofy and annoying it is...
my OLD routein whent something along the lines of shampo, condition, towel dry, leave in conditioner, moose, difuse, hairspray...and it would always look so crazy...

and i hated my hair curly...it was very annoying...

then i got myself a GOOD curly cut...
find a hairdresser with curly experience, im not just talking a hairdresser who "can" cut hair, but a hairdresser with GOOD curly hair experience, theres a whole different way of cutting curls so they can support themselves rather than seperate and friz, it takes longer as they generally wash scrutch and then cut each curl as it forms naturally individually giving the curl a good support system.
let me know where you are and ill look for you :)
step 2, STOP FUSSING...curly hair CRAZES moisture and HATES to be touched...

im currently using curls rock by TIGI and i LOVE it...
my routein NOW:
shampoo normally, then condition, leave the conditioner on while you shower (5-10 mins best) then rinse COOL, cool water smooths the cuticle and closes everything helping reduce frizz.
BLOT hair dry with a clean towel, essentially scrunthcing it dry, rubbing agrivates the cuticle causeing major frizz!
dont dry comepltly just get the drips off...
then leave in conditioner, remember curls CRAZE moisture, (i again use curls rock by tigi), just enough to coat, dont go crazy.
comb in with a WIDE tooth comb...you want the curls to "stay together" and regular combs and brushes seperate them...
my hairdresser always says, curls get crazy when there lonely...lol

and the last step, take chunks of your hair starting underneath, i like thicker chunks because i like can always seperate curls out, then simply twist it, repeat untill all the hair is "twisted", your essentially bringing the curl together and winding them so they support eachtoher.
then the hardest part, LEAVE IT ALONE...do not blow dry unless you ABSOLUTLY have to, again curls like moisture and blow drying just annoys them, so if your not in a rush...drying naturally is THE best thing for curls!
if you HAVE to use a blow dryer use a diffuser and keep it on cool.

since i started doing this ive began to LOVE my curls.
i generally take an extra 5 mins to run the straightner through my bangs, all together once out of the shower it takes a total of 10 mins including my bangs straightend...and there MUCH prefering this new routein...
and yes, curls have their own personalities lol.

its so funny, ive found straight haired girls ENVY curly girls...
and curly girls just want straight hair...but i think curlies who want straight hair just havent taken the time to get to know their curls on an individual basis.

i keep a small spray bottle with a conditioner water mix (i generlaly do a 1part conditioner to 3 parts water) in my purse and when my hair gets "angry" (poofs) i simply spritz and re-twirl...

curly hair frizzes in the humidity and dryness because each strand is trying to grab the moisture in the air and seperating helps...
so keeping your hair moist helps control the frizz better than using tons of mouse and other products.

I have a some natural curl in my hair....not a lot. And now I have a fairly short cut. I like a little bit of the messy/curly look so I mousse it and scrunch it. So, I'm no help am I. You could iron it. (?) Or maybe a different hair cut might make the most of it. (?)

Cut it if you hate it? I'm not saying you hate it, but if you do, that's my suggestion. It works like a charm.

Before (curly - when I do NOTHING to it except get out of the shower):

After (might be blow-dried here, but for the most part it's very straight):

With my hair, at least, it's a lot harder for it to curl when there's not enough left to do so. :D It also cuts down on straightening time if I need to.

If you DO want the curls, I second Foxy's suggestion of Curls Rock by TGI, scrunching it, and then not touching it till it dries.

lol I know your pain..

but ive developed a system that keeps my curls in ringlets or CALM (like above) and not like the crazy BIG tina turner mess it can be if left to its own devices

my number 1. John Frieda Frizz-ease, put it on damp hair and keeps curls from POOFING
Buy John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum, Original Formula Online at drugstore.com

MY BEST curl conditioner. Its the alter ego hot oil garlic treatment. its a bit pricey at $20 but I LOVE IT. keeps my hair smooth, soft, and really conditions the curls
Alter Ego Hot Oil Treatment with Garlic :: Alter Ego Hot Oil Treatment :: Beautyofnewyork.com

and my gel.. pantene curl defining scrunching gel. keeps curls controlled without making them crunchy and hard

DO NOT BRUSH YOUR CURLS. HAIR BRUSH=EVIL FRIZZ MAKER!! lol combs/your fingers are your best friend

I do EVERYTHING the night before. I take a shower, shampoo/condition using my herbal essences curly hair shampoo (smells live lavender :) )

then I apply my garlic treatment. let that sit while I do everything else (shave, etc..) then rinse :)

Dry my hair using a towel, but wait until its DAMP. Not soaking wet. and apply all my products (gel/ frieda frizz).. then I put my hair in a bun :) and go to bed!

Next morning I wake up and my curls are controlled & shiny. I add a lil more of my john frieda and some of this..

Sephora: Frederic Fekkai Luscious Curls Cream: Styling Products

and then im ready for the day! :)

Having a good haircut, and HEALTHY hair is best :) I avoid heat styling, I love my hair straight but I try to save it for special occasions.. and when I used to frequently blowdry/iron it, I made sure my hair had PLENTY of conditioning and heat protectors (chi MAKES GREAT heat protecting serums) and use QUALITY styling tools. a bad iron will literally fry your hair

Hope it helps :)

I have the exact same hair routine, but I use different products. lol. I find this to be the best way to get my hair to stay curly without being weighed down :D

Mines not so much curly but more frizzy and fluffy, it drives me nuts. Mines the opposite to Nolu's though, when mine is longer I can get away with it curly because its very thick it bands together better and sits down a bit and I actually don't mind it but it does have to be past shoulder length. I usually put some wax in mine wet when drying it curly, it just makes it sit down better, I also don't wash my hair that often, only every 4-5 days, I hate hair wash day, not only does it take hours from start to finish but than I have to wait 1-2 days for the fluffiness to die down enough to like it.

I've spent the last 4 years denying it completly. it gets straightened daily. Atm I've cut the back out of it to a short bob and kept the sides long, I like it but the current humid weather is making it a massive chore.

What's wrong with curly hair? I am not a lady and my hair is not curly, but I love curly women. They are just cute and lovely. I know it will feel strange when their hair brushes my face, but that's fine. I can bear it. :)
