First, thanks to everybody for the compliments. :hail:

Fantastic pics! What a cool dog:hail: You guys are obviously a great team:)
Tell me about weight pull-- do the dogs really like it ? It looks like hard work and notso much fun. I wondered if it's a breed specific thing where some breeds just really like it the way a lab likes to retrieve birds or a border collie likes to herd?
Some dogs really like weight pull, others do it because they are asked. (And in fairness, some do it because they're afraid of getting whooped if they don't. I don't have a lot of respect for that last kind of puller.) I've seen some dogs practically go into fits when they're led up the pull track because they know they're going to get to pull the cart. Loki does the job because I ask her to, and yes, it definitely can be hard work depending on how hard you push your dog. I've never placed an emphasis on Loki winning over the other dogs, just giving me a good, game effort.

Oh yeah. And FTR, I've seen all kinds of breeds pull and seem to enjoy it. There's a Corgi that pulls in the area we compete in. And a miniature poodle who gets out there and does his thing in full show coat. The small terriers do pretty good too; the JRTs and Patterdales and the like. APBTs and other bull breeds definitely dominate the sport, but lots of breeds compete and do well.

Do they pop an umbrella open right in front of her?? I can see Oakley trying to hightail it outta there if someone did that to him, lol...hes kinda a scaredy cat.
It wasn't right in front of her per se. She was a few feet away; can't remember exactly how far. The station worker pops the umbrella open and then lowers it to the ground. I did some work with her when she was younger to make sure that umbrellas wouldn't scare her. She definitely startled, but she knew enough to know that the umbrella wasn't going to hurt her.
