I'm glad you won't let someone's sole opinion here deter you away from feeding raw. Your dogs will do just fine if you grind your meat. I bought a Northern Industrial grinder from Kotula.com. Free ship and no sales tax (If you're not in their state). My frenchies get both ground and whole and don't suffer on ground days. I don't have 45-50 mintues to wait for them to go thru a drumstick or breast so I cut the meat off and give them the bone seperate w/supervision. They crunch the bone just fine without swallowing it whole. It took me a while to be confidant enough to feed other than pre made. The only thing that suffered feeding premade was my bank account. It is more expensive but a great way to start out. JMO

That is a lie. That wolf is allowing his "protective mommy feelings" to prevent him from acting naturally. He doesn't NEED that watermelon, he just wants it because he is not an actual dog you see.

your so right.

wolves actually prefer pumpkin

everybody throw your freezers away with all your meat in it.
Hit the farmers market and get yourself some fruit! :rofl1:

if we weren't such "mommys" to our dogs, we would allow them to do what they were meant to do! eat fruit and go out and hunt!

so give your dog a pumpkin or some watermelon, and then let him outside to go hunt some prey. he will figure it out if your REALLY the pack leader lol stop being such a "protective mommy"

We were on completely premade (the nature's variety patties) before we brought home Rory. At the time I think we were spending $70/month on it... which is a lot for premade raw. With Rory (35lbs) the amount would have gone through the roof.

Besides the gulping issues, I really don't want to deal with having my dogs drag raw meat around the house/yard. We're putting in a pool soon, and I don't want to deal with fishing chicken necks out of the water, since they'd probably end up eating it on the patio. No, thank you. Not to mention, like Puppydog said, they'd end up switching pieces and get either too much food or not enough. I'm not in the mood to sit and play babysitter while they eat. There are more pressing matters.

Like I said before, they still will get RMB's to chew on.

I will feed my dogs ground raw and life will go on. If anyone has an issue with ground up raw (which is quite silly), I suggest taking a tour of shelters in their area, or impoverished areas where dogs are treated much, much worse than my crew having to deal with eating ground up meat.

Oh no. I gave my dogs some pieces of a banana this morning. I'm really abusive.

Rory LOVES fruit and veggies. It's because I'm an over protective mommy, of course.

I KNEW IT.
Rory just LOOKS like the kind of dog who will refuse to eat if you screw up the placement of his salad fork and dinner fork. I can totally tell.

Bwhahahahahaha!

On a side note, if we all allowed our dogs to do what nature intended we would have a bunch of filthy, matted mongrels roaming the streets breeding willy nilly. Sometimes, intervention is good.

You are one of the best I've seen at coming up with excuses as to why your dogs can't eat whole RMB's. It takes about 15 minutes or less to teach a dog to eat his RMB's on a mat, or in his crate, or stay in the kitchen with it. He will eat it anywhere you want him to if you take a few minutes to teach him where you want that place to be.

We're putting in a pool soon, and I don't want to deal with fishing chicken necks out of the water, since they'd probably end up eating it on the patio.
He will only eat on the patio if thats where you want him to eat.

No, thank you. Not to mention, like Puppydog said, they'd end up switching pieces and get either too much food or not enough.
Most truly raw fed dogs don't get the same amount of food from meal to meal. Mine sometimes get large meals and sometimes get small meals. It depends on what size pieces I am feeding. It's not a big deal. It all equals out over time. This is just another excuse.

I'm not in the mood to sit and play babysitter while they eat. There are more pressing matters.
My dogs eat in about 30 seconds. Yours would too because food volume would be the same in porportion to their size. It takes them some time to learn how to eat faster but not a lot of time. Before you were complaining that they are gulpers and now you are complaining that they would take too long. Which is it? I think this is another excuse as to why you can't feed your dogs the same way other dogs eat. Yeah, yeah, I know .. "my dogs are different." :rofl1:

I will feed my dogs ground raw and life will go on.
True but it won't be life as good as it could be.

If anyone has an issue with ground up raw (which is quite silly), I suggest taking a tour of shelters in their area, or impoverished areas where dogs are treated much, much worse than my crew having to deal with eating ground up meat.
As long as you are satisfied with treating your dogs somewhat better than in shelters and improvished areas, go for it. I treat my dogs the best I possibly can.

I feed my dogs Costco kibble with a homecooked topper. I guess in some circles I am a regular animal abuser.

Seriously, Jessie, this person is really a zealot, obsessed with this little corner of the world. I know you will just feed your abused pups the food you want to feed them, but in the meantime, try to see the humor in this situation.

I actually find it hilarious. How sad of a life one must have to bully others into thinking there is only one way to feed their dogs.

Im gonna convince my mom to buy a live deer so I can let it out in the backyard and let Romeo go hunt for his meal. thats the natural thing to do

how is a 4 pound dog gonna take down a deer? who knows lol but its natural! so it must work! I must ignore my protective mommy instincts!

a 4 pound chi is exactly like a wolf! My dog isnt special or any different, so of course he should be able to hunt a deer!

You need a special mini-deer. Or a rat with antlers.

This sounds like a good plan.

I am going to start letting my dogs roam free. Forget leashes and fenced in backyards. Today the fence is coming down, and the dogs are free to wander through the neighborhood.
