So I'm not in the city, but outside of it. It's a 20 minute drive to the city, one way. I'm looking for a job and noticed one that has a high potential of being perfect for me.

Issue is they have on the website to drop off a resume in person. Which, yes, I could make a trip to do, but at this point not till near the end of the week (unless I drop it off late Wednesday, after dog class when I look a mess.... hmm...).

Would it be horrible to send it via email and just say 'I know it says to drop off in person, however won't be able to do that in person until the weekend without making a special trip so I apologize for emailing'....

It does not say anything about NOT emailing (no 'any emailed responses will not be considered').

What about mailing it it snail-mail now, and going in to meet them later in the week when you get a chance?

Honestly.. if the job is perfect for you, I would make the trip.
For one it would make sure they received it, it's more professional, they can SEE YOU so you have a chance to make a good first face to face impression (/they will remember you when they are hiring) and it shows you can take direction and go the extra mile (they said to drop it off, you did)

"It'll take a special trip"/"I know you said to drop it off but ____" implies that 1) you can't follow direction and 2) you are lazy.

Company emails are flooded. Often. Every job I worked we checked emails often but as far as attachments and files and resumes..they often got buried. People forget to print them out, forget to keep the email on file for when they are hiring etc..

If you are there in person and drop it off, more than one person sees you (more than likely), you can ask questions that aren't fit for email (are you hiring, friendly chit chat, etc...) and get valuable insight from people who already work there.

So yea.. even if it takes a little longer, I would make the trip.

Ditto Fran.

I think you'll just be starting with a less-than-stellar first impression if you email it.

Just looked at their hours, they close at 8, so it won't be till the weekend before I get get in there. So next weekend it is, will do the running around dropping off resumes thing.

It's for a second job, not my main one, otherwise yes, would make a special trip. But even Wednesday when I do go in, we're in class till 8 and it's not even near there so yeah....

Perhaps call and ask them how long they're accepting applications? They may offer you an alternative at that point, and you could explain your situation -- or they may always be accepting applications so no problem waiting.

This.

Honestly, it doesn't matter if it's a 2nd, 4th or 5th job. You either go all in trying to get it, or you don't waste their time.

My current job said drop off in person, I sent mine in via email but I also had been to the place previously to look and told them I planned to do so, plus I was in Nevada and the job was Oregon. ;)

Well will stop in there on the weekend and drop off. Also looking at other options, so will see what happens.

Right now my full time day job isn't working well for me, so something needs to change. I'm a nanny for a family, which is fine, but the mom is OCD about things like toy clean up. Meaning if there is one toy out of place, like a barbie shoe in the car bin, I will get a note about making sure the toys aren't mixed up. I'm really going to go insane with it, since I'm becoming OCD about sorting toys and making sure EVERY THING is just so. One kid loves to dump everything and it's been some days where I'm sorting and organizing toys for 3 hours to try and get it all just right, and yep, I'll get a note the next day anyway. That and it's in the country and they don't like the kids going off the property really, so it gets a bit isolated with nobody over the age of six to chat to. No TV, no radio other than an hour at most per day, one day the kids argued over what to watch and changed dvd's three times before watching a 30 minute show and yup, note about how they only should watch so much tv per day (I'm guessing the five year old said they started to watch barney, then switched, then switched again).

That and their dog is an idiot, not the dog's fault really but just spoiled, no training, bites at the kids, chews everything and barks out the windows at nothing multiple times a day (when I go to move her from one window, she goes to another window and barks there too).

Things you can't say in the interview as to why you're moving jobs....:rofl1:
