Honestly, one of the reasons I stay here is because mods aren't the SS. Moderating a forum just plain sucks. I have done it and I have done it on forums a fraction of the size of this one. That sucked so this must be exponentially worse. The fact is, some of the mods on this forum have a great deal of knowledge. Without them and some of the others on this forum I would have never trained my dog to be the dog she is today. I don't forget that. They volunteer a good deal of their time and why shouldn't they share their knowledge or have an opinion. This forum has a flavor and there are other forums with other flavors. We get to pick our flavor. How cool is that?

What bothers me a whole lot more than a mod I disagree with is somebody who blows into this forum out of nowhere on a self-described White Horse and acts like the forum didn't run till he/she got here and nobody knew a thing till he/she showed up. That bothers me a lot. When I first came here, I came to learn. Now I still learn, but I have fun too. And I argue too. But what I simply cannot stand is a person who has the audacity to talk about something he knows nothing about and declares himself and not only declares himself an expert, but slams people who don't agree. The only times I really see this forum go really sour is when
1. somebody can dish it out but can't take it, or
2. somebody shows up here acting like they are some kind of messiah.

Now I don't always agree with the mods on everything, but like me, they have an opinion. Sometimes those opinions are strong, but so is mine and everyone else's. If these mods quit tomorrow, this forum would be in chaos. And if they tightened up like some of those other anal retentive forums, we would see a mass exodus just like they enjoy.

This forum is one of the largest on the net. It's this large for a reason. Somebody must be doing SOMETHING right. Do I need a break sometimes? Yup? Do I get insulted? Yup. Do I disagree? Yup. Just like real life!

While posting back slaps to one another about how great each of you are.

You just need to throw in something about a warrior for GOD to make it complete.

WHen I think about it, you guys use the old german methods too, only the methods that were used on humans in the 1930s by Hitler in his climb to power in order to stifle all opposition.

For people so offended at the word "bully", you sure do completely fill out the spec sheet for it.

I suppose over all, it is a pretty good tactic to kill the messenger, if you do not like the message, and cannot prove the message wrong.

I certainly see the logic of your tactics, especially, if you are not competent, of confident to successfully debate the issue, then certainly the best way for a win is to kill, or stifle the issue, and call it a pubic service.
Not sure why you feel such a need to win though.

While your tactics are not as slick and polished as they could be, you do well at disrupting a conversation before your agenda is put to the test

It is a great strategy, for those who are not confident they can make the grade on the field, to cut dow the competition before anyone even gets on te field.

You guys should be working for the President's cabinet. Dick Cheney could use you people if you polish up those skills a little more.

If JTP had his way, somebody in another thread would have strangled an 8 pound pom when "introducing" it to cats twice its size. His analysis of cats in the mix was so off target one wonders if he ever even walked by one. Apparently, he thinks dogs and cats behave exactly the way he tells them to even when he is not looking. If that person had taken his advice, there would have been a seriously injured dog two ways: Once from the yanking of the leash and again from two cats with the upper hand.

Did someone really expect me to stand by and watch this advice fly and take insults from a man who knows nothing about the combo of cats and dogs?

No Dan, you did a good thing. Frankly I was festering and got to bring up something that was bothering me too.

The thing is, this forum is not shaped as a forum for the kind of training these people believe in. There are other forums that do that well. I don't go to them because I don't like the methodology. That's why I like Chaz. But if they were to migrate here, what would they expect actually? Did they expect to reshape this forum and take over the methodology of training? Them and what army?

I don't even know who Richling is, honest. I never heard of him till these people showed up. If he's so all firing important why does he need to come here and convince us, he surely must be busy with all those people who agree with him. Most people on this forum find the tactics described offensive. It's a very sensitive issue, it is. If I agreed with them or was interested in these things, I would visit their forum. I know that seems closed minded to you, but the truth is, I wince when I see that stuff. So there is no way on this green earth they will ever convert a person like me.

I'm glad you did. The politically correct one of the bunch. We need members like you to speak up.

I read the Richling threads. Every single post. It was quite clear who and what Richling is and does. He stated it. His website states it. His book states it. There is no question.

Did members act inappropriately? YES. On all sides. But what can one expect when this forum largely (not wholly, but largely) believes in positive training and someone who advocates harsh physical methods joins and tells us we are all wrong. Then denying accusations which come directly from his book, in which he said that his words in his book were true. What, really, are passionate members supposed to do?

I'm thankful our group is as passionate as it is, but I do wish we could deliver our thoughts better and that wish applies to all.

I banned. Him. I did not make up lies. He did. The IP address for all three members came from the same place. He logged off as Martin and immediately logged back on as Summit to PM me. SARdogs said he had just read about Martin on the net and was interested in have him out for seminars. Well they all had the same ip address. I find it odd that two strangers lived in the same place. And that one felt the need to invite the other one anywhere.

I don't usually feel the need to justify a banning but this one was far. I never slandered him (it's libel in the written form - btw). I was disappointed in how some of our members acted. I was happy to give him a chance to talk here on this thread even though I don't agree with his methods. However, we do have rules and he was the one that decided to have the three usernames to make a point.

His actions speak for his character.

I do believe that the majority of his followers don't see the drowning of the dogs and hopefully their dogs are so 'hard' that they need to be stung with a stave. No matter what I hope that everyone's dogs are happy and safe. And i hope that people can let this all go.

first of all i am NOT a guy. and i am not JTP or related to him in any way.

i back him because he is telling the truth. you wanted to go up against my dog, but my dog is not done with his training, but richling's dog Zadok is fully trained in his methods. so as i did say before your dog going up against my dog won't show me anything, but your dog against richling's dog would show me alot.

Well, while not trained for the same purpose, I would put any of my dogs up against Richling's, including my half blind, half deaf 18 year old Yorkie. The one thing my dogs have that his don't have is obedience andtrust that I will never hurt them. Funny, no one likes working for a "theory x" boss, but many are more than willing to let their dogs work for one? I will never get it. Why do this cr*p when you can get the same results with the other three quadrants of operant conditioning?
