Aw (((((Aussie))))

Believe it or not, I CAN relate. I have gone through this many times with cat rescue. Irresponsible pet owners and "let's teach the kids about the birds and the bees" breeders cause havoc, pain and grief whereever they go. They should all be sucked down bodily into hell without even dying first.

You know the thing I think that got me the most with the big old man Oscar is that the owner surrendering him said please don't neuter him because he really is a great breeder and has good looking pups. Go figure. My house has two dogs in it because our rescue is over filled and it is a three day weekend and I hear please don't have him fixed !!! He has marked the walls and I am so happy to fulfill her request of please don't fix him. *** bangs head on wall*** maybe now some of you can see my passion on some things
if you do return him to her, will you have him desexed first? maybe she's just found someone willing to pay a stud fee and suddenly wants him back for that. If he's neutered you'll see if thats true

If he is returned yes he will be fixed first. An old guy like this sadly has very little chance in a shelter or at adoption. He would most likely live in our kennels as would Maverick until they pass which is no life for a dog either really. I would consider a return to her for one reason and one alone the well being mentally of Oscar. I spent over an hour that 5 this morning chasing him around the neighborhood because the old guy found a chance to break out when hubby was opening the door to leave for work. You have no idea how frightened he was and thirsty from running in this heat. Thank heavens we are a gated community. I captured him because he went into an open gate of someones back yard. He is sleeping soundly now but I spent the greatest part of the night up with him because of his low crying for his owner. Hate ?? Yes I sure can and do. !!

That is so sad. Thank you for helping them Aussie. It's painfully obvious that most people just don't care.

I hope I can help as many as you some day.

The ladys daughter called me today and she is going to take her brother Oscar in. She was very upset to hear her mother had given him up. It will be good for Oscar as he knows her. She has agreed to him being fixed. I am a bit relieved because these old guys are really hard to place. He is so sweet. She will be here at noon to take him home tomorrow

Aussie, my hat is off to you and anyone else that does rescue work on any level. I have done rescue and it is one hellva job to take on. It is no wonder that people who have done rescue (especially for years) get so hardened towards ALL those stupid people!!!
It often feels like one small piece of your heart gets taken with each dog that you can't save or help........but then that piece is replaced by the next dog that you do help. Often there is an unbalance of those pieces to the negative and you almost give up...but then the next dog comes along that you can help and the balance of your heart tips a little bit to the positive again. Doing rescue can be one of lifes biggest emotional rollercoasters.
People who do it, are NEVER given enough credit because unless you have done it, one can not understand how much it costs. (Not talking about money as you know).
ANYONE that breeds even one litter should have to do rescue. I have a bumper sticker that says IF YOU DON'T RESCUE, DON'T BREED!! Anyone that has done serious rescue work, that also breeds is (from my experiences) very cautious about breeding, they very seldom over breed and they go the absolute distance on finding forever homes for the pups that they produce.

Kudos to you...........:hail: :hail: :hail:

Take care
Lynn

It's people like you who make such a different, Aussie . . . Thank you for seeing someone worth saving in these dogs when their owners only see a "hassle", a "nuisance", or a "bother."

He has served his purpose and made her 12 litters and been a good old boy and woke her up when the house was on fire but now he no longer is something she can make room for.
What an ungrateful, horrible person. It would be poetic justice if her house caught on fire now and she couldn't get out because no one was there to warn her.
