I went back to court today to plead my case against the stop sign violoation. The officer did show up, but lets just say he was a little unprepared, he said he didn't really remember the incident, and he didn't have a copy of the ticket. But he said I approached the sign at 5 mph looked over my left shoulder and kept going at the 5 mph. He was already there for another case too. The judge said based on my testimony and the officers he thinks I probably just came to a rolling stop and told me to be absolutely sure no one could doubt my stopping in the future and wrote it off as a WARNING!!!!!!!!! I'm so happy :) :D :) It would have been a $140 fine. And based on what I witnessed today do not steal from Wal-Mart and do not drive on a suspended license! You will be fined big bucks and most likely be put on probabtion for 12 months.

Second good news. I sent my resume in to a vets office in Dalton that has 2 practices, for a veterianry assistant. They contacted me and said they would be setting up interviews real soon and they really liked my resume! =) While that would require me to move and be separated from John for a little while it would be a great improvement towards my career goals, and I could get a different vehicle.

I really hope I get hired at the vets office. I have the knowledge so to speak just not a lot of so called experience. Anybody got any pointers on that aspect?

Doesn't it just tic you off when they arrogantly don't even acknowledge your existence

I got a ridiculous ticket one rainy night. Tried to say I was going 50 mph immediately after I got off the interstate and was stopped at a stop sign in the pouring rain. Trust me, the rain was bad enough that I was barely doing 30 mph. I saw the cop pull out of the parking lot and pull in behind me and I knew he wasn't using radar as my handy-dandy detector didn't blip (and it was a great one - some yahoo stole it out of my car one day) and there was less than a half-mile distance between the end of the exit ramp and the stop sign that I stopped for, where he pulled me over. That meant he hadn't had enough time or space to have legally clocked me from where he pulled out.

Soooooo . . . I go in front of the judge, and he asks me where I saw the cop pull out from, and I told him. Cop pulled out of the Pines Truck Stop parking lot, "where ALL the cop cars were parked - you know, the one where they all play bingo on Friday nights?" Heheheh . . . at that time, gambling, including bingo, was illegal in Tennessee . . .

There was hell to pay :D

But I didn't have a ticket to pay :D

And I never drove that particular car through White Pine again

Oh yeah and the other cool part is that Dalton is around where all my folks live. I forgot to put that in earlier. =) Been down here in Tifton for 5 1/2 years now, which is about 4 hours from there.

Wait....

The cop said...

he said he didn't really remember the incident,
THEN said.....

he said I approached the sign at 5 mph looked over my left shoulder and kept going at the 5 mph.
????

That guy needs to go back to "cop school". Or, at the very least learn how to deliver his bull**** better.

:p

Tell me, just how hard was it to NOT laugh your bum off in his face? (That would be a bad thing to do, because he would just be waiting to see you again....)

Puckstop, that's pretty typical . . .

I got one once in town for speeding. Cop decided I was doing 50 in a 40 (if I'm gonna speed, it's not in town, and it's not a paltry 50/40  ) He actually clocked either the burgundy Taurus in front of me that was leaving me behind rather quickly, or the off-white Toyota that was rapidly gaining on me.

Now, when we're in traffic court (officiated over by the most incompetent - and one of the most dishonest- attorney in the district) he first says that he noticed I was speeding by my position with the other traffic around me.

There were only the two cars.

Then, when I asked why he didn't note the burgundy Taurus and the white Toyota were actually moving at a significantly greater rate of speed than I was, he said he didn't see any other cars . . . All he saw was the old blue Mercedes . . .

And the judge made me pay the ticket.

Lol puck, I had a MVA in 1999 where I hit the car in front of me. The guy was driving a pickup hauling a trailer with carpet, had no working tail lighs or breaklights, came to an abrupt stop and before I could come to a complete stop to avoid him my drivers side hit the back of the trailer. I was cited for following to close (hah) but when it came time for court to fight the ticket, the officer stated he doesnt even remember me or the incident. All I can say is if your in the right or you believe you are FIGHT IT!!!!!
