For anyone who didn't know. I had to board my two cats when I lost my house. Then two weeks later I had to put my golden in there to. There was a major downfall in boarding them. If I couldn't pay the bill. The kennel would sell them. Well I couldn't pay this week. Needless to saw I was very upset about this. To make things worse, I couldn't even get them out to find good homes for them myself. I talked to the owner of the Kennels to see how long I had before my pets would be sold. Well I asked him if he would let me work off the board bill. He said I could. I felt like jumpimg up and hugging the guy I was so happy.(I didn't though) It was really nice of him to let me do this. He doesn't need the help right now. They will not start hiring anyone until June.

Yeah. I got my boys (the cats) when they were five or six weeks old. They are now two years old. As far as I'm concerned they are as much members of my family as I am. My golden I've only had for about eight months. She is a bueatful dog and I love her very much.I didn't want to lose any one of them.

I hope I get a steady job out of this. I need one. Plus if he does keep me on I'll pick up the exp. I could use later on like the pet grooming:)

Just be eager and willing to learn everything you can and take every opportunity that presents itself! That's what I've always looked for in an employee - as well as someone who doesn't have to be told every single thing to do; intelligent initiative is a wonderful quality, and I doubt anyone who keeps a kennel is going to object if someone has a few extra minutes here and there and does a little extra cleaning, etc.

And get all the training and handling tips you can from your Mom!

Thanks for the tips Renee.A really big plus is I'll get to see my guys more then once a week. I hated that but it was the only time I could get a ride. Plus they don't know if Buffy(my dog) has Kennel Cough or is just stressed. If its stress then maybe my being there more will help. I hope. I had been more worried about the cats being stress then her. She has been through this kind of thing before just not with me. The cats don't seem to mind at all. They have all the worker wrapped around they're paws. They get extra treats and toys. Its quite pathetic(sp?) really. Those two cats are never that nice when they're home. We call them demons for a reason. It's not fair but at least they're talking to me again.

That is great! To be honest, I just saw a show that pertained to this... either on Judge Joe Brown, or Peoples Court... the woman had to board her pets, and could not pay the bill. She is hoping to find a way to find her 2 dogs... (the case was regarding a dog bite).

I have no idea what laws are in place in each state regarding this situation, but at least you have the heart to keep your babies.... GOOD FOR YOU! and i wish you the best of luck. Is the bill really high? I would be willing to send the owner a few bucks in your favor, and maybe others will also. There is no shame in asking for help as long as you are willing to help yourself.

Please let us know.... I would love to donate some money to your cause and getting your babies back. I don't know how this is done, either on the forum or pm, send me the kennels name and address.... I would send a money order to help some. I hope others do too!
Take care, Amy

Yes the bill is high. It's $708 a month and they're the cheapest in the area. It was really sweet of you to offer to help. We'll be okay, since the owner is willing to let me work off the bill. You did help me out alot when you told me what I would need to do to start up a pet sitting business. Thanks again for the offer.
