Ok. For the past couple of days one person at my job has been having bad breath! It’s really nasty. The other day that person came up close to me and started talking and it was terrible. I didn't know how to tell that person that they had bad breath and I didn't have any gum on me to offer one.

So guys what are your best ways to tell some one they have bad breath?

Sometimes, undirect directness is the best way to go, lol.

Instead of everyone talking about it... one person could type up a nice letter and discreetly place it in their mailbox, desk, whatever.

Reach into my pocket and grab a mint for myself and offer them one as well. When they don't take one, say, "Please".

Either that or simply state, "Dude, your breath smells like ass".

****, your breath stinks! The goal is to make sure they get the point otherwise you may have to throw hints over and over again. All the while, you are suffering!

Hmm what's it like? If you can relate it to food say something like "wow I like garlic too but it sure does linger doesn't it!" then offer a mint.

The idea actually came from someone else.

Many years ago the idea was used by someone (not me!) to tell a co-worker (not of mine!) they had really bad BO.... everyone had been talking about it for months... after that note, she never once had it again.

perhaps pull that person aside and just mention that it is something you have noticed lately. it really could be an indicator that something isn't right if this just started up out of the blue.

My nose would crinkle up anytime they talked to me. If someone has bad breath my face says it all.

I HATE bad breath.

To me, there are 2 excuses as to why someone should have bad breath.

1. morning breath-easily solvable by immediately waking up, rushing to the bathroom, and rinsing with listerine and brushing your teeth.

2. A bad tooth (or teeth)/gum disease-go to the dentist. Get it taken care of.

Sorry, this is one of the things I don't tolerate. I am SUPER careful about my oral hygiene, and if I cannot brush my teeth after eating, I carry gum, a mint, a small tube of toothpaste to put some on my finger and rub on my tongue.
I am snobbish about this. I am. I'll be the first to admit it. I look at it like this: I faced my EXTREME fear of going to the dentist because I needed my teeth cleaned. I grew up going regularly, and got out of going because of my fear of the dentist. But I went, and so, to me, there is no excuse.

I don't know how people can eat onions and garlic and NOT be aware that their breath is going to stink.

A nasty case of sinusitis makes breath smell kind of like ant poison. There isn't much to be done about it except for lots of mints. And curing the infection.

It may be the problem. Right time of year for it.

Oooh! I started stating that there were THREE reasons for bad breath!
THIS was one of them.

Yes, sinuses issues WILL cause bad breath. And no matter WHAT YOU DO, it will be bad breath until the sinus issues go away.

I get reoccuring sinus infections a lot, it's usually what triggers my asthma. And when those sinus infections come on, I get bad breath. I hate it, and it lingers even after I brush my teeth, use listerine, chew gum, use a mint, ect. Because it's coming from a different 'source' other than your mouth.

With that said, I used to work with a girl that had SERIOUS B.O. and horrible breath, And honestly? She was weird. She always wore gothic skirts to work, but admitted to never wearing underwear. Ever. And she was a woman. Did I mention ever? Not even... monthly... (per her admittance.) But never wore pants either, just skirts (which is fine, but in public with no undies during your monthly chick time is way over the weird-o-meter) And she always smelled like... well, you don't want to know... but it was disgusting.

So a co-worker, who was good friends with her, told her one day, "Dude, you stink. Grab a shower and save my sinuses!" LOL, she didn't care, and said that as long as she couldn't smell herself, it was all good. UGH!

My sinuses were relieved when I finally left that place.
