No, I say chipotle with a longish E ;)

I say elephant with the E like in Elle, Ella, Eloise.

I say chipotle with an E that is not as long as the one in feet, so not Chi-poat-lay, but rather Che-poat-le, but the E sounds different to the one in Elephant. ;)
That makes so much more sense. LOL I was like Eel-aphant!

Lol, I took Spanish for two years in high school and one in University.
I took 9 years of Spanish, 3 of them college level. Sadly, while I can pronounce Spanish words, I have a very low overall vocab and no actual fluency lol.

Yeah, that is totally OT lol - but it made me think about it.

I wish I hadnt deleted my photos of you and Chipotle. :( I deleted them last month, going "I WILL NEVER USE THESE," and sure enough, here's the perfect thread.

Yah, your Canadian friend is ****ing with you (or it's a friend thing, not a Canadian thing). I have never heard anybody here ever mispronounce jalapeno that wasn't joking. Jalapenos and tortillas are very, very common here.
Those are common words everywhere. Pretty sure all adults and most children know what they are!

This bought brought to you by drunken, texting on her phone Saurus, who can somehow manage not to include sixteen typos in her post. Three, sure, but not one every line.

All my hispanic ex inlaws say it chee-POAT-lay. The vowels are all short and clipped too, not drawn out.
