I am very familiar with forums in general and dog forums in particular. Suggesting that I get my girl spayed was not help, especially when my avatar states that I am a breeder.

The problems that I am having with her do not matter now because I am leaving this forum and going to where I will get constructive help.

I am not a BYB. I am a registered breeder with the Australian National Kennel Council.

People should not just jump to conclusions.

That's too bad norskgra, you sound like a highly intellegent individual who we could have learned from.

I agree that you should stick around and let us learn from you too. I've never had a problems with any heats either....but I too, never had a b*tch come in that early. If she's uncomfortable , there may be a medical problem....I'm sure your vet would test. Goodluck to you. As a past breeder, I know keeping her intact is important to you .

I have had her to the vets and she is perfectly healthy, it appears to be just that she has started early. Keeping her in tact is important but if there were any problems her health would come first.

Norska, my Fila Brasileiros tend to have their first heats at around 6 or 7 months, and they do have PMS, lol! Not only do they whine and fidget and act cranky or mopey, they try to steal chocolate  It really doesn't seem to be that they are unhappy or uncomfortable, they are just incredibly needy and crave attention - just like us human females.

It's wonderful that you're so tuned in to your dogs' emotional well-being, just bear in mind that they will use that to their advantage sometimes - and these working/guardian breeds seem to be particularly adept at it ;)

Norska,
It's great that you were concerned enough to even log onto this forum! I love hearing from breeders and exhibitors. We have a few here already as a matter of fact.
As far as making her more comfortable, the only things I can think of would be the same things that German Shepherd Gurl already suggested. I'm sure you will get many more suggestions, as this forum has several knowledgable people. It seems as though we will be able to learn a wealth from you also. ;)

I will hang around for awhile and see how it goes.

I have been breeding for over 25 years and this is the first time I have had a girl come into season this young.

I am very close to all my dogs and can always sense when they are not feeling themselves. She is eating normally and is healthy, but I can tell that she is not happy and not herself.

Beautiful pups!

I think it's just like humans, some women don't feel much different during their periods and some have extremely painful ones (like me *sigh*). Maybe just a painkiller would help? I have no clue what is safe for dogs, but hey, it works for me.

Thanks Fran. I think they are beautiful. The one I am talking about is the photo in my sinature. She was 8 weeks old then.

I have started her on Evening Primrose Oil to see if that helps.

As both of my girls are in season at the same time, I am giving each of them 1 capsule a day.

I am also having a herbal remedy made up for my youngest one. It may not be here for this season but at least I will have it for her next season.

A hot water bottle on the lower belly works wonders too.(at least it does for me; ahem LOL) I didn't read the whole thread and I hope I'm not repeating the same advice.
