OK, so I am messing around on the computer and I find some pictures that have no right being here. I didn't save them so that only leaves one other person who could have.

Anyway, is there a way I can find out if these pictures came from my camera or if they were gotten from a website?

Try right clicking on the photo and go to properties. It won't tell you where the picture originated from but it will tell you when it was created. It might help you determine if it's a recent picture that may have come from your camera. Also... have you looked at the memory card on your camera? The pictures might still be on there unless someone already cleared the card.

It kind of sounds like someone was being a bit on the sneaky side, huh? Have you thought about confronting this person who put some undesirable pictures on your computer?? I would have to have a "discussion" and confront the guilty party.

Your camera will have a certain format for naming files. Mine, for instance names all files IMPG0001 (as an example). Does the file-name correspond with how your camera names them? and if so, is the file name a lower increment than the last shot you took?

If you answer 'yes' to both of these, then there's a good chance the photo came from your camera.

My camera names them as 100_0001,100_0002,100_0003, etc.

These are named 7,8,and 10.
Its three pictures of the same person and creation time is the same for all of them.

camera's do have a default naming, but I rename ALL my files as soon as I save them. And I often will name them 8, 9, 10... especially if I am in a hurry.

If the picture your questioning only has numbers on it, then it's most likely from your camera or a personal camera.

Most pictures downloaded from the internet have very detailed "titles" on their pictures.... it wouldn't be a random 7,8, or 9.... more like "Kansas City Chiefs" etc, etc, etc... or even a web page like "www.xxx.com/xxxxx".

You should confront the person who must have put them on the computer as quickly as possible.
Depending on the nature of pictures I'd get rid of them as soon as possible and think about reformatting the computer...if that helps...I don't know actually..sorry...

True pup-man but when I save them to forward in an email I always rename them - if there's alot I do the 1, 2, 3, 4 thing or an alpha code that will remind me of what the pic is.

*EDIT: nevermind...:p You already know they are from your camera.*

You can check the properties on them but they probably just came from websites. I had the same problem with "unwanted" pictures a couple weeks back. I had to delete them all, installed some antispyware and reset my pop ups and cookies and haven't had as big a problem since. It seems some websites automatically save pics to your computer whether or not you looked at them, downloaded them or (in some cases) never even saw them before. I don't know how it happens...and I haven't read the rest of the thread to see if you've gotten better answers...but it happened to me before and I did the above mentioned things. :) Good Luck!
