He is doing great. He is neither blind nor deaf. His vision is not 100%, but he can see and he does hear just fine when he wants to :). He is a lot like an autistic child...he does very well as long as we keep with a pretty regular routine. He is much more social now and he will actually approach me when he wants to be held or he wants to go to bed. He loves to go bye-bye and really likes his vet a lot. He rarely ever circles like he used to. He follows me from room to room hoping that I will drop a morsel...he is a junk food junkie...he eats a 100 calorie pack of Lorna Doone cookies before bedtime...I know, I know...he shouldn't, but with the life that he has had, if it makes him happy, I'm going to indulge him, besides, the vet said it wouldn't hurt him as long as he didn't start gaining weight, so we take a walk in order to have the cookies. He is pretty good about sharing, so he doesn't get the whole package. He lets me know if I try to sneak him to bed without them...after he finishes his cookies, I have to give him a drink of water from the mug that I keep on the nightstand...he doesn't want it out of the water bowl...it has to be the mug. He loves to go out onto the deck and curl up in the sun. He has only pottied in his pants twice since he came to live with us...that's pretty good for an old guy. He is pretty spoiled, but in light of his past, I think he deserves it. How he wound up at the shelter, I don't know. He is truly a treasure. I can't imagine that his family wasn't looking everywhere for him. I'm sure glad that Tessa posted his story and that we were able to bring him home...even if I have a chronically stiff neck from sharing my pillow!
