I absolutely agree about the emergency vet thing. I work at an emergency clinic and we often get injured animals brought in by good Samaritans or by the local police. If the animal is critically injured, they're usually euthanized.

We do keep a book at the front desk of lost pet flyers just in case someone calls or brings one in.

I would contact all veterinary clinics and specifically tell them that you'll pay for treatment if he's brought in injured.

On the fliers I would put LOST SHEPHERD. or LOSTE SHEPHERD MIX. A lot of people aren't going to know what a malinois is.
It'd be better to add "Looks like a German Shepherd mix".

I'd also suggest letting delivery people (mail, FedEx, etc), and school bus drivers as well. They cover a lot of territory in their day.

It is super important for vet clinics to get flyers not only in case a Good Sam brings him in, but if someone finds him and wants to keep him/tries to pass him off as their dog.

I'm thinking about you so much, so many good thoughts. It makes me sick to my stomach to imagine what you're feeling.

:( I too keep coming back to this thread hoping to see that he has been found, and keep getting more sad that he hasn't been found yet.

Sending lots of Get Home Soon Harrison vibes!!!

He's not home yet, but we finally broke the cold spell of no sightings. Several people have seen him hanging out by the cemetery on the outskirts of town, and then two teenagers saw him at the gas station across the freaking street yesterday. The last sighting was last evening/night, heading into the woods by the cemetery, and another family has seen him in the same area the day before.

I'm going to be setting up bait stations in the cemetary and try to rig his crate so that I can trap him in it. I baited it tonight with french fries, but tomorrow I'm going to walk Indy up there and walk through the woods looking for him.

This is great news! It definitely sounds like he is hanging around the woods at the cemetery! So I hope you find him there tomorrow!!!

Crossing my fingers for you. I've been thinking about you guys a lot and hoping you find him soon. I just don't know how I would be able to handle being in your situation. I'm so so sorry. I'm very happy you've had some sightings though. That's a great sign.
