I just wanted to say....... I think Chazhound is a great place to communicate with other dog owners and swap stories and I think most of us respect each other for the most part (except the occasional spat)

Well I have done favors for some and gave the benefit of the doubt.
But there is only so much I can take.

Although I believe most of us are as accurate as possible, but then there are some that just are unbelievable! story after story.

I understand this is an online forum, and anyone can be anything they choose. But what the members decide to believe is only up to you as an individual. For some this is just a fantasy land!!

I have been thinking all this for a long time but kept my mouth shut.
I would never accuse a single person, but I just wanted to make a point and to tell everyone to use their good judgement, and take tall tales with a grain of salt.

I know some of us feel like real friends, but friends shouldn't lie to each other and become something your not. I know some of you are fooled. Maybe you just go along with the lies, maybe you don't.

Those are just my thoughts........and I am not naive, I just like this place, and would also like to believe in the people here....and most I do.

Oh what a
tangled web we weave
when at first we practice
to deceive. (or something like that)

And please, all this is in general not directed to one person. So don't ask me.:D

yes I agree. Some tales are farfetched but you don't know if they are real or not. Unless you are neighbors with the people (or related) you don't know if it's real or not. I give benefit of the doubt though. There are LOTS of completely UNBELIEVABLE stories though that I don't even post on because I will say something bad.

I gotta agree with JF. Some of the crap I've been through with friends/family/random people is just bizarre, and I could see how someone would doubt it. But hey, to each their own.

I never really saw the point in lying on a forum. But for some people it's an outlet, some an escape, and others just like to pretend they're people they're not (IE I played a MMO once and was talking to a girl (as friends, never been a fan of online dating) for about a year, turned out it was a guy who was gonna get a sex change operation and he 'felt' like a girl so he decided to claim he was one...crazy stuff).

Edit: BTW, just Googled it and you got the quote correct.

I've never been able to lie....it never got me anywhere and as a child I was always caught...not worth it. Of course the " little white lie" not to hurt someone's feelings, is something else.

way I see it.....it's only a forum. so it's not a big deal to me if someone wants to play make believe. it doesn't hurt me, so who cares? this forum is full of excellent dog information, and I'm adult enough to filter thru the crap. I'm usually amazed that some people become so upset over certain posts because if you don't believe it......then don't believe it, and move on. why anyone would get so upset is beyond me. deciding to 'prove someone wrong' is rather a waste of my energy and time. soooooo, if you think some people are little fibbers....then ignore it. it isn't even worth mentioning. some people take things so serious. this ISN'T the big stuff in life to deal with. :)

I too agree with you, Julie. There's fantasy land and then there's creating post after post of made up rubbish, just gets annoying after a while trying to decipher what’s real and what’s not. A good majority of posts are very informative and I love hearing stories of everyone’s pets but I have learnt to avoid a few that just make no sense to me. Their stories change more often then the weather we have here in Maine. In other words, if you don't like what you heard the first time, wait 5 minutes and it may change to what you want to hear. :D

I agree with you. Always makes me wonder what motivates people to make up lives. I mean, self esteem should be based on what you are irl, not on some concocted internet fantasy life. That's just kind of sad, really.

I've gotten a lot of very useful dog information from this site. I really like it here even if I do lurk for the most part. And no, wouldn't lie about my life. I'm very private on the internet, but would simply not answer a personal question rather than lie. :)
