LOL. It's her undercoat. That's how it looks when I rake it out. It always looks grey when I groom her and pile it up, except for the obvious white parts from her mane. I think it would make a lovely charcoal grey sweater.

lol....when I was a kid one of my mom's close friends would take the dog fluff we would get from brushing the dog and spin it into yarn. She would knit sweaters, scarves, mittens, etc out it. I know she would wash it before she used it, but would it smell like wet dog if you got rained on while wearing that stuff?

We used to give our golden retreiver fuzz to my sister's gerbil. That little guy LOVED to make beds with the soft fluff!

There's someone around here who spins hair from her Pyrenees. She's not the only one, either - you can seriously google "dog hair yarn" and you'll come up with a surprising number of hits.

There's a culture in Asia - I think Mongolians? - who keep large hairy dogs and spin their hair - beautiful dogs and they are treated like members of the family. In fact if food runs low they'll feed the dog first before the kids, so really the dogs are better treated than the family! But the dogs are super important - they keep the horses safe, help warm the houses, and of course there's the hair they use for all kinds of stuff.

I'm actually allergic to all natural fibers, except angora goat and rabbit. Weird since I'm a sheep farmer, but there it is. I still wear cotton and wool, however - I hate polyester (ironically). I think I'd have to draw the line at dog, though.

Irena, I saw that there are people who make yarn from fur. I just personally draw the line, hahah. However, with Tosca in tow I may have to rethink the potential for profit in this. That is, if I don't succumb to a hair ball first.

I thought about spinning some yarn from Auggie hair and knitting it into a scarf or something once... and then I realized how creepy that would be. Especially after he dies someday in the far far far away future.

Besides, I already wear my dog. All I have to do is hug him. WAY easier than spinning yarn.
