but dont want to cough up the cash, I found a pretty sweet program similar to office for free. You can donate if you want (which I will). It is free and you can give it to anyone. I use spreadsheets all the time and theirs seems to do all I need and much more. Check it out

:yikes:

...hang on...

I'm in shock that y'all are just now hearing about this :rofl1:

I've been using OpenOffice for a long, long time. There are some things that are more difficult to do with it than with microsoft, and yes some things can't yet be done with it, but it's open source and continually being improved upon.

I recently convinced doc to get it on all the work computers :p

In other news. the Hindenberg caught fire earlier today in what is being called the most tragic accident of our time.

Alternatively if you don't like OpenOffice (it has its flaws), Microsoft is doing a beta of Office 2010 that's good until August of 2010. So it's not free indefinitely (until someone over writes the timer, which has likely already been done if you're so inclined as to find it) but it's free for a while.

I used it for awhile at one point but didnt like it.

However, it is a good alternative for someone who needs to do some quick work and cant afford Office.

LOL Ya GO I needed the laugh too! I think it is the first time a man who doesn't know how to jump start a car ever got one on me. It was news to me and im thrilled to not have to pay the price for similar programs so perhaps it will be news to someone else.

Ok you smart asses do you know of a free version of AutoCad similar programs?

Well, one that I know of is gCad3d gCAD3D

I haven't used it, our company had autocad, and I have a version here at home.........but it looks pretty good to me. And there are others too, Kevin has used one called DWG something or other and I can't remember the whole name at the moment.

If you search enough, or even go onto youtube you can find peoples sites who have lists of programs that are normally hundreds of dollars but have cracked or created serial numbers. So long as you never register the software it works just fine.

Things like AutoCAD, Flash Pro, Photoshop Pro and so on tha tmake the price of office look like peanuts.

Hey hey! Forgot the order the plugs go on! Not going to blow up someone else's battery.

Or well, not someone who's trying to help. For recreational purposes....maybe.

You can find MANY free versions of pay software by Googling "open source <name of popular program>".

Open source programs are usually free with option to donate, a system which I like much better than paying $100+ for all my programs.

I usually give a good donation to the ones I use.

And that would, of course, be illegal, no matter what the vendors are charging for their software.
