The rivers in my town are flooding. One of the rivers is just across the street from my parents house. But fortunately we live on top of a very high bank. It has been an interesting day to say the least.

So far everyone I know is ok. Unfortunately though there has been a lot of damage, and there is more rain on the way. My parents house, which is where I am living, is fine as are the houses of my grandparents.

YIKES!

I still haven't heard whether o rnot Ames is flooded yet, since I'm at work in the "higher" part of the town.

I wouldn't be surprised if Duff was under water again though. I'm tempted to drive downtown to see once I get off work, but that might be dangerous, so...

At least the geese look like they're enjoying it . . . . Hope you guys get a break soon :(
They left not long after I took the pictures. Can't say that I blame them.

I hope we get a break soon too. I don't even know if our river has even crested yet. I am watching tv about it, but they haven't said. The river in the town that I work isn't expected to crest until tomorrow afternoon. I don't even know if I will be going to work tomorrow.

I wouldn't either considering what happened the last time.

The gravel road that I live on has a good amount of water running across it, I was in Fort Dodge yesterday and has water coming inside of my Tracker, it was pretty deep, but I had to go see on of my friends. lol

Are you sure that your safe at your house? I'd be scared to stay incase it rose more. I wouldn't be surprised if someone didn't try to cross that in their car. :p

Wow, you can actually get across without flooding the engine or getting swept away? I'm surprised. I figured that everyone parked their cars on a road thats not covered and they got in a boat or canoe and crossed over. :p

And yes, you need to get a vid. :D

No flooding the engine, lol I can go through about 2 1/2 feet of standing/non moving water without any worries of flooding the engine. This water is about 3 or 4 inches deep, but is flowing across the road. There is no way I would go through 2 feet of moving water, I would soon be off the road and down the river. lol

EDIT- I thought I should add, in Fort Dodge I was driving in flooded city streets, it is different than driving on a flooded gravel raod, on a city street you know what you are driving on under the water, on gravel you don't, could have washed away and what not.

I guess it just looks deeper because its moving so fast. What do you cross it with, a car, truck or suv?
