I started supplementing Liz's raw food with this on occasion (she's just been a bit skinny for my tastes...) and I've given her a few meals of it this week when POOF overnight she's got two small (like dime size or smaller) hot spots chewed into her hips. Literally, OVERNIGHT - I had her out at Rita's til like 10 last night, I'd have noticed ;)

Anyone else had this happen? She's been treated for Lymes and has been really lethargic, so I was afraid maybe it's too rich/too much protein for her...? I don't know - I'm going to put her on chicken for a few days and see if they go away... I just can't think of anything else it could be! Otherwise her coat looks great...

Does anyone know - has the EVO formula actually changed yet? Or was it a new bag at all, for that matter?

Does your dog have allergies? One of my pups had a hot spot a couple years ago. Vet gave me something for it, I forget exactly what it was...but it went away.

I also give my dog benedryl when her allergies are acting up. Would help with the itching.

I tried the EVO Red Meat with T-Bone and it was too rich for her, too, unfortunately. I am not sure if that's what it is... but even the best kibble on paper does not work for every dog, unfortunately (again).

I hope she feels better soon!

That's what I'm thinking it is. We've used the Chicken/Turkey formula before with great results. But when Autumn tried Red Meat as a baby she got the runs for days :X I'm just going to wash her up with some witch hazel and feed her raw poultry for a few days and see if it clears up... if so, at least I know what's up.

What kind of raw diet are you feeding? Why on earth do you think ANY kibble would improve it? Can you see your dog's spine and hip bone? If not, she doesn't need to loose weight.

In general, hot spots are a kibble fed dog's problem. Prey model raw fed dogs just don't get them. I used to have 2 Goldens that had very serious hot spots for years. Switching to raw eliminated them all together.

it could also be envoirnmental. Maddie's been on raw, and she just got her first hot spot in YEARS... The vet said it's got to be envoirnmental :(

OOPS!!!!! TYPO!!! If you can't see spine or hip bone, she doesn't need to GAIN weight. Thanks for pointing that out. :rofl1:

Um yea, actually, I could :( . Believe me, I'm all about having thin dogs. I've been feeding raw for about 5 years now and you should see my basset hound...

I never said I thought kibble could improve upon her raw diet, but we keep the EVO around anyway for traveling (I cannot be trusted to travel with coolers of meat. I left one of deer meat in my trunk for weeks in August after Autumn Oaks, and for some reason it took me forever to realize what "that smell" was...).

Interesting Brattina, is it possible it could be like a seasonal allergy..? I'll keep monitoring her... they certainly don't seem to be getting any worse. If there's no improvement by Friday I'll take her in. Thanks guys.
