Yesterday my family and I took both of our dogs to the dog park. The dog park has some agility equipment there. I thought I would try to see if I could get either of my dogs to do some of the things. So I leashed up my 10 month old APBT and she was scared of the equipment, so I didn't force it at all. So I leashed up my 3 year old chihuahua/dachshund mix and he went up on the dog walk with a little coaxing and encouragement. I was so excited and was giving him lots of praise. He did it a few more times while leashed and then I let him off the leash to go play. A little later I called him to me and we went back to the dog walk but I didn't leash him this time. I got him to go on the dog walk a few times. I was thrilled that he did it without me leading him with a leash. I let him run off and play for awhile, then a little while later I saw him by the A frame. So I went over there and encouraged him to go on the A frame. He did it! I was so proud of him and gave him lots and lots of praise. He seemed pretty proud of himself too. He had this look on his face that I haven't seen in a long time, and his tail was wagging so hard he was hitting himself in the face with it. I am thinking maybe I should consider doing agility training with him? I bet he would love it and so would I.

Agreed, find some classes with a good place. We can give you some tips on how to find a good place to train, just because a facility has equipment doesn't mean they know what they are doing :(
Agility is excellent for building confidence and it is so much fun (or it should be).

Good luck.

Awesome! When I started agility with my chihuahua, my friend said, "Agility with a CHIHUAHUA?? Chihuahuas can't do AGILITY!" Since then I've seen several chis (and dachshunds) running faster and more accurately than the border collies and other large dogs. :D

Sounds like your dog would be great!
