Does your state (province/area) have a nickname for its inhabatints?

In East Tennessee, we often use the term 'volunteers'. And Tennessee is the 'volunteer' state.

Mountain people and Appalachians is common too.

When I lived in Katherine, Northern Territory it was just Katherinites or Territorians. Now I live in Queensland.. therefore. Queenslander. I generally don't like Queenslanders though so I still call myself a Territorian.

Nothing creative though.

Hahaha, this was what I was going to say. I've never heard people refer to folks in Illinois as anything. Rednecks is about the only thing I can come up with.

Well....in Indiana, Illinois residents (particularly those driving or behaving badly) are often referred to as "FIP"-- ****ing Illinois Person.

I live in British Columbia. People usually call us hippies. Or British columbians, but mainly hippies reason is because they smoke and grow a lot of pot and its where the good stuff comes from, apparently. And we have a huge population on ski bums.

and here they are ****ing Illinois Bastards (FIB's) or FISH, ****ing Illinois **** Heads or FISH TAB's, the same as previous but Towing a Boat. They invade every weekend all summer long

Cool! Some of these I've heard of, and some I have not! NEVER knew about the "Massholes" ROFL....that gave Kevin and me quite a chuckle!

I know "we" (n.indiana folk) call Illinois people "FIPS" as Sally stated....but honestly, it's the folks from Chicago that normally get the honors, LOL (crazy city drivers come to visit!)

I was NOT aware of "FISH" but find it amusing! LOL
