Bodhi is a little messenger.

If anyone wants me, and I am upstairs, they will call my name. As you do.

If Bodhi hears them calling me, she will run upstairs to me, and whine and prance until I get up and go and find out what they want. She will go just ahead of me "this way mum!".

Very handy when someone is telling me my tea is on the table ;)

She's never been taught to do this, and I am not 100% sure how she cottoned on to it... There is technically no reward in it for her? She doesn't get a treat, or a play.

It's extremely handy though.

She does not do it for anyone else in the household.

Yesss, Gipsy knows all our names, well my name, and she 'calls' my mom, mom, and my dad, dad. And she always knows where to find us ^^
You can ask her, hey Gipsy! Wheres daddy, go get daddy, and she'll go bugger him to come to us xD it's rather cute ^^

She also knows who grandma and grandpa are, but only because we lived with them for a year.

Yup, Buddy is very good. The others are learning. I can ask where any member of the family is, whether it be Mit or Adobe and Buddy will go look, lol. And then he'll do his AAARRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOO to that person or animal to get them to come. Too cute.

I don't think Carlie knows our names that well, but we've been trying to teach her them. She growls at Mike, my boyfriend, when she sees him getting out of his car in the parking lot (we live in an apartment), but when I say "daddy's here!" she'll stop growling and run to the door to greet him. So cute. :p We've only had her for a few months so I think in a few more months she'll know us by our names and by "mommy" and "daddy." :)

Meg puts on a good act, but I don't think she really knows my name. It's just that, on the rare occasions when she isn't glued to my side, if someone starts talking to her, she tends to come running to me ("Mama, that strange man is blabbing at me again!").

My friend's dog, who used to spend a ton of time with me, knows my name, and will run and jump up on me if you tell her "where's *****?". Oddly, if she hears my voice on the phone, or if her owner says "where's *****?" and I am not there, she stares at any picture hanging on the wall for a minute or two:rolleyes:. They suspect some brain damage from distemper as a puppy:p.

When the kids happen to see their dad coming and start talking amongst themselves the common phrase they say is "daddy is home!" Well Charlie picked up on that phrase quickly and he goes straight to the window to look and see if it is true. Lol

Mommy- me
Daddy- my husband
Jessica- our daughter

She also knows the names of her favorite doggy playmates- Bear, Skeeter, Riley, Sculley, Nala. If I see on of them before she does and say their name her ears perk up and she immediately looks around for them.

I don't think so. Tango knew who I was when somebody mentioned my name, but Dance, Morgan, and Winston don't seem to know anybody's names.

Both dogs know me as Mom, and my husband is Daddy and they also know my sons Adam and Josh.

Gunnar has always loved waking up people. I can say go wake up Josh and he will run into Josh's room and leap on the bed and give him kisses, he will do the same for Adam but if I say go wake up Daddy he will not jump on the bed, but will stand at the side and bark.

Roxy knew my sister's name because she was VERY overprotective of her... I think she knew my sister is special (had brain cancer.) Knew me as Momma. My ex as Daddy. My mom as Ganny. Yes, pronounced WITHOUT the R: Ganny. She knew my grandmother as MeMaw (what we call her.) She also knew Harley's and sometimes Precious' name and what we were talking about when we said "kitty cat."
Harley knows my brother's name. Anytime he won't listen, we just say "Nathan!!!" Harley comes running. It's great.
Precious... no, she doesn't know anyone's name. Hardly her own. Poor girl. LOL

My dogs the same, especially when you say "Where's Dad?" because he knows who his alpha is. He'll do it to quite a few people though, which is really cool.
I suppose they just pick up on a name being said and the person acknowledging it. It's the same with all dog training, like sit, and bum on floor they add together, same with this, but no reward.

Ahh...but the reward is seeing "said person" show up when name is called.;)
