For me personally, no. I did a lot of research and have spent a lot of time with my breed. The more I work with them, the more addicted I get. We were talking about all of the scabs on my hands tonight and DH goes: "You know, you are a REALLY crazy dog lady, now. YOU EXPECT TO GET BIT. There's something wrong with that." :rofl1: He's probably right, but I can't imagine it any other way! I have considered other herders in the past, but there is always something that hangs me up. Now that I have a really nice, drivey girl I don't really even think about other breeds.
As far as our family as a whole, I think we will branch out a touch. DH really loves American Bulldogs and I finally pinned down a fabulous breeder. So there's a possibility there. He also wants a bird dog, so there will be another touch of variety. If we get an American Bulldog, I would probably trial a bit with him. I really do like the breed, but I have an issue with a lack of biddability. The bird dog is touch and go. He will be DH's, so I won't intervene much but may consider hunt trials if he isn't interested and the season is slow.
DH may overrule me, but I wouldn't seek out another Boxer. The plan is for an American Bulldog to fill that void (if we find we need bully love
), but who knows. I would really like to keep our numbers low, so we may have to make choices.
