I found this site and wanted to know what people thought of
these chews. (I won't use raw hide for my shih tzu)

http://www.renspets.com

Bullwrinkles (are these the bulls um... you know what everyone
talks about on here?)

Cow hooves (I don't know about these...)

Pork Rinds

"Pork Rinds are made from rolled pig skins. Fat is kept to a minimum and the skins are roasted and lightly hickory smoked to prevent rancidity."

Texas Toothpick

"Small 4-6” treat chews for your dogs - made from pigs tails"

The prices are in Canadian dollars and seem pretty good to me?

Dogs love bullysticks but they DO SMELL! Tosca won't see another one till the weather is good enough for her to chew it outside. lol. I saw a site where they have smell-less bully sticks but you had to practically give them your first born child in payment.

my guys like the bullsticks, i know the merrick brand bully sticks are not "you know whats" they are actually beef tendons.
depending on the brand and whether thay re tendons or somehting else realy contributes to the strength of the smell, ive found the merrick bullysticks dont smell half as bad as some other brands.
the cow hooves are a fave of our spaniel.

We havent tried either of the others.

Do you think the cow hooves are appropriate for smaller dogs? I don't
remember seeing them in person and its hard to tell the size on the net.

I also found these made treats, but I cannot find the manufacturer
and suspect they might not be that healthy?

I dont use chews..

My dog almost choked on the last one about 4 inches wide 4 inches long she gammed it up enough to try to swallow it.
I use pig ears which they crunch and bone soup bones.

I can't give Hannah many chews due to her jaw strength - she breaks most things.

She gets bully sticks and raw marrow bones for recreational chewing.

I like to go to the natural food store for dogs where they sell frozen raw food-i buy those meaty bones and Squirt just loves them. There is so me meat on them, and the marrow, and it will keep her busy for hours. Plus, they don't smell or get nasty.

Wow, I MUST be missing something here OR else I need to
go to the doctor to get my "sniffer" examined.:D
I get Bullysticks but I don't smell anything strong or that anyone's breath
smells bad. I MUST need a "sniffer" check up.....****scratches head in wonderment****
Chloe loves them, Bailey occassionally will chew one......I guess maybe he would chew them more IF Chloe didn't steal them from him.
To me they are expensive, but I still buy them even though she can go thru them in what seems little time. I can get a 30 inch Bullystick for $9.95 when they are on sale.......$11.95 regularly. They are Redbarn brand. I cut the 30 inch sticks in 3 pieces with a tree limb lopper because if I didn't Choe would probably injure herself trying to manuver it around the house. I tried a hand saw first but that took way too much time and I didn't want to get out the table saw. :D

I used to give the odd bullystick-- until one of my dogs swallowed a 4 inch long peice and puked it back up which scared us both.

That stuff isn't particularly good for dogs and typically comes from pretty scary sources of rendered animals-- even the Merrick brand.

Now the only things I feel really safe giving are stuffed kongs, a nylabones or a raw beef knuckle bones. The raw knuckles actually clean their teeth too.

I had a fast vet visit for Tosca over rawhide and I will NEVER use it again or anything like it. I'm with you. I give her raw bones, she particularly likes pork neck bones. They give her a good cleaning and she loves them. I give her raw marrow bones for chew fun too. She also has a Nyla although she runs hot and cold with it.

Cider liked the one bullystick I gave her.. They are pretty pricey though. She also liked the Merrick's flossie I gave her on a whim. She always has cattle hooves laying around though. Don't step on one accidentally. It hurts.
Most hooves we've gotten have been about 3" long.. just under 2" wide.. not tiny..

Love, if you want to buy cheaper in bulk, you can bid for them on Ebay. There are always listings for all sizes and including those strong bully triple twists that last a lot longer. Sometimes, people overbid one one listing and then next thing you know you get to pick a good sized lot of them up very cheap from another listing. Takes a little patience but sooner or later it pays off and you get a lot for half the market price.

Hey Thanks, TMom....I will try that.
Just today I found, in the sale bin at the pet store, bully weaves at 75% off! I bought a bunch of them (20), she's set for a long time now along with a 30incher. :) Seems that this pet supply store only carries bully anything at Christmas, then they have the sale for what is left over. We only have 2 pet supply stores in my area that would carry something like this, unless I want to go over into Ohio and I never go over there for much of anything.
