Well, as some of you know, I've been whining about my only option of dial-up for years. Satellite....too expensive and the weather here, I've heard can block the satellite signal too frequently. Who doesn't HATE dial-up with a monumental passion?
Well, I just went to a hearing last night after sending a letter to the planning department, vehemently opposing the proposed erection of a 130 ft high, lattice-type communication tower on my neighbor's property. Even though I'd love broadband Internet, the idea of one of these obsene towers right next door caused me so much anxiety, that my ezcema has flared up something awful! I could see my property value and salability plummeting. What an colassal eye sore!
The approval of this communication tower was unanimously voted for by the council members. I was the only neighbor, the only person there besides the council members and the broadband guy.
Apparently, this will benefit the elementary school near by and as I figured, most people would welcome this tower. I didn't think I stood a chance.
But...what I found out was that this is a venture between the broadband company, my neighbor and one other guy. It's the OTHER guy's property that this is going on. That property is 1300 ft. away from me and way up the hill, in the trees. I have such tall trees, that I won't even see it probably...the way the land lies and the location. So, maybe this won't be so bad. And I can use it as a positive for prospective buyers, I suppose.
I guess if you can't beat 'em, join 'em....right? Now I wonder how much broadband costs every month. (should have asked) What do you all pay for broadband service and how does it compare to satellite as far as getting a clear signal?
