And if I were to do IVF. I would not use all embryos at one time. But I would freeze some and use them at a later date. They may not take, but I would at least try.
I think that's the responsible way to do it.

Hubby and I have already discussed and pretty much decided that if we have fertility problems then we'll adopt rather than go down the fertility treatments route. Not that we have any moral or ethical problems with IVF or other fertility treatments, but if we're going to spend a lot of money in order to have a child, we would rather spend it on a child that needs a home now.

The eye/hair color doesn't always lead up to the parents soley, you have to put the grandparents, great grandparents, ect to equation.
That...

My brother and his... ex wife now had 4 children. they both have dark hair and dark eyes. They have one girl with red hair blue eyes like her grandfather on her mothers side...two girls with blond hair and blue eyes like the grandmother on the mothers side and the grandfather on the fathers side... and one boy with blond hair and brown eyes... a mix of the parents and grand parents

Hannah is a wonderful mix of Brian and I. hair is between blond and red right now and her eyes range from blue to grey to brown to green. my eyes range from blue to grey and Brians eyes range from brown to green.

Eh whatever. If I were to have kids, I might pick the sex of the second or third child.

As far as hair/eye color? That really couldn't matter less to me.

As far as hair and eye color go, madison and lily are native american. There's not much variation there with hair and eye color. Brown and brown. Lol. Brown skin too, though lighter than their grandparents and great granparents, because I am caucasian. My eyes are brown. My dads eyes are brown. My moms are green.

IMO, it is not moral.

Who knows what kind of harm we'll figure out comes from this years and years down the road, when it is too late to take it back.

I think if you chose a pretty enough "Sperm donor" in the first place then all of this becomes a bit superfluous! ;) :rofl1:

Well if you could do all this before the eggs are fertilized... whatever really. I mean, lots of people who adopt want to adopt a specific sex, and maybe if parents really want a boy it would be better for the child to be a boy and not a girl. Doesn't mean they wouldn't love a girl even more, but learning your parents wanted a boy instead of you stinks (speaking from experience).

It's just that if people are willing to create a lot of embryos to find the perfect one, I would think they wouldn't be inclined to transfer all of them. I know we transferred all the ones that survived thawing. Don't get me started on people who transfer them at a time in their cycle when there is no way they will implant though, just so they don't feel guilty about destroying them. How hypocrite... it's just the same thing.

my concern is actually more along the lines of 'desighning the perfect baby' what if the perfect baby is the blond haired blue eyed baby? what if that becomes the trend, what happens to all the brown haired dark eyes babies? ect...

we all start to look the same.

in truth...i belive picking for sex...as long as its not excessive (ie males eventually outnumbering females or visa versa) isnt as much as a problem...
though it should be reserved for multi child homes....you had a little girl and realy want a little boy, ok...or for the likes of countries like china where if the kids born the wrong sex off for adoption it goes because they only get so many "for keeps" to get the right sex...the adoption market is flooded with asian babies of "the wrong sex"
in those communities where they are limited to the amount of children they can have, being able to choose the sex of their first born would probably cut back on the amount of babies being carted off for adoption...

but again, i still worry that it would be the new "accepted" form of genecide, eventually creating the "perfect" race...
i happen to like varience...

and yet...
in all honesty...
if i had a kid..id prefer to have a little redheaded girl and a blonde or brown haired boy, both with blue eyes.
but i also feel the world needs more redheads and im the only natural redhead in the family that we can find!

According to my mom, I turned out exactly as she wanted. she still thinks God listened to her when she described what she wanted her daughter to look like, down to every little feature. Black curly hair, Brown eyes, Caramel skin, even my beauty marks..everything came through. Ive tried telling her that its probably just a coincidence lol but she wont listen

then again, I think all parents have that kind of image in their mind of what they would like their kid to look like. but then when they see their actual kid, he/she is perfect regardless of how he/she looks like

I would never do it.. I can't wait to be surprised about what my kid looks like. how much she looks like me, or her dad.

Speaking from being an only child (well my brother are like 13 years older than me..).. I would definetly give my kid siblings around her age tho :/ being an only has its up sides, but I would love to have a sister my age

Madison and lilianas grandfather is a redhead, and the rest of the men on that side grow red facial hair, so its in there, but the dominant black hair and brown eyes on the native side take over. The red headed side also have these very bright icy blue colored eyes.
