My 6mo Standard Schnauzer found a dead rat the cat left out in the yard. I had to chase her around until I cornered her to take it away. She is in her pen right now eating ice-cubes to clean out her mouth. Anything else I can or should do at this time???

*hides her own pet rat*

No kitty! :(

But, I wouldn't worry too much about her getting sick or anything.
I have had dogs eat more than just dead rats. Things beyond rancid, and they have been fine.

as long as the rat didnt die from rat poisen...and as long as the rat wasnt flea/parasite infested you should be fine.

Mine kill and play with rats regularly. If I don't find them they eat them (ewwwww) As long as your cat killed the rat and it didn't die of poison then I would just watch for fleas.

Nothing to worry much as none of the above situation exist. Better o have some squirrels rather than rats...
