We've done this before but ... oh well.

So, real? Fake? Why? And where are the pics.

My tree is fake. My family has always had an artificial tree. I like them because they aren't messy and some can be quite pretty. Plus, it's a one-time expense (if you get one you like). I also don't like having a tree that is essentially dying in my living room. It seems so wasteful. But, I have to admit, real trees feel and smell great while they are fresh

I don't really get a tree anymore, but if I did I'd get a real one. The smell alone is wonderful! Plus, it's another reason for people to be planting tree's ;) Get them form a tree farm, gives them money to continue growing tree's for next year. They may not grow as old as they should, but at least they grow them!

Even when I was a kid it upset me too much to think of killing something just to dress it up and then throw it away when it wasn't pretty anymore . . . I still have the fake tree my parents bought when I was six :D

I don't actually have a preference.. but this year I want a REAL one, dangit. I've been nagging BOTH of my parents relentlessly for days and my mom finally caved earlier this morning.. muuuahahaha. So we'll have a real one for the first time since I was a toddler. The only things I had to give a little on were size (small) and where we get it.. we're going to go cut our own.

The fakes are easy to clean, a one-time purchase, and often equally beautiful.. which is why we've always had one. But I've never had a real one, and I want to try it out lol.

We're not going to be home for Christmas this year so I'm just putting up my little one. Next year I want to get a full-size tree that has the white lights already on (I hate the light part). I'm not sure what kind I want. Maybe a blue spruce with frosty tips. :D Has anyone seen the optical trees?

See that's true, but if people didn't buy tree's, they wouldn't have tree farms (Around here they do at least specifically for growing christmas tree's). And though I know they cut down all the tree's that where there previously just to grow those tree's, I'm sure they would've done it anyways and built something else.

So buying from a christmas tree farm gives them more reason to continue to grow those tree's that wouldn't be there if no one bought them.

Until I moved here , it was always a fresh cut tree.. For years our tree was in the sleigh that Nash's folks are restoring ( Mauzy's Blog ) . The sleigh was my Christmas present from Tom over 40 years ago , saying I could get my horse !!! I ended up having to put it into 2 pieces as I couldn't bring it though the door myself . Maybe one of the girls could post the horse , sleigh and them for a christmas card one year . Sigh !!! Memories . I now have a small artifical tree in a small child's sleigh on my table ....with mini special yearly Hallmarks . Takes me hours to set up as I relect over each one !

real ---no other!! And at the end of the winter, we mulch the tree up and add it to the landscaping--no waste there!

The real tree experience here. Part of the holiday fun is shopping for "the" tree. We actually found it today, only 20 bucks at the boy scout lot and it's a nice size, too.

Since the OP asked for pics, here is one from a previous year with way too many presents under there.

Yeah, looks worse than it was. My inlaws and my folks had dropped off stuff for the kids in advance, so yes there were a lot of presents, but no, I didn't buy them all (thank God).

Thanks, BabyB :)

Charley didn't do Christmas, so I haven't had one in years. This year my house is in too much of a shambles to do anything. So that's another year gone. Maybe next year.

You forgot a none category ;). I don't really see the point of killing a tree just so I can drag it in my house for a week and then throw it out with the trash, and fake trees are...well...fake? I prefer to go for a walk in the woods. Bah humbug!
