Max is a very picky eater, and has a very delicate stomach, meaning even the littlest things can upset him. Currently he's on the IAMS stuff, and I finally convinced my mom to take him off of it. In the past people have reccomended Canidae to us, and I was wondering what your opinions on it were. But, Max only likes to eat the canned versions of things, he's not too fond of dry food.

So here is the link the the canned version of what we want to get him. Its all natural, and doesn't have any corn.

My dogs were on Iams.. and I just bought Canidae. Right now they are getting 1/2 and 1/2 until their Iams is gone so it does not upset their stomachs. They seem to really like it though! And just from looking at the dog food itself I can tell it's so much better. :)

Canidae is a great food :D I am glad that your parents are switching!

I would do a 14 day gradual switch with the food, starting with 75% Iams/25% Canidae.

I also love Canidae :D Major and Lizzie are right now on the Canidae ALS Chicken and Rice Formula, and they are doing great ;)

I think that Canned would be a great thing for Max...but also remember that he is a senior dog now(I think) and he could also benefit from the canned senior formula ;)

I rotate between EP Holistic and Canidae, and all of my dogs love it. Missy is doing exceptionally well on it... she actually eats it without anything on it :)

Canidae is a fabulous food compared to Iams. I think you will find no digestive problems with this food. Most people can switch cold turkey will no ill effects. In fact, most dog poop improves after one Canidae meal. I have fed this food to about 6 different dogs. All of which had perfect poop while eating it.

We also fed Canidea to all of our dogs. It was wonderful because it is all life stages and at the time we had a younger one with 2 seniors. Eventually, we did switch over to Merrick all life stages and they have done great and like it as well.

Well, he's nine-ish, so maybe the senior food would be a good idea. Thanks, I never would have thought of that!

That's really great to know, thanks for the info! Max has been having really runny poop since being on the IAMS, and I'm hoping gradually switching to the Canidae will help this a bit!

The Canidae Platinum is their "senior" formula. I personally would not feed this because it is SO low in protein and fat. Senior dogs need protein to maintain muscle mass! If you do decide on it, you may want to rotate between the ALS and the Platinum. Just my opinion anyway...

How about the Lamb and rice favour ? My dog likes this more then the ALS, wanted to buy lamb and rice for him, lower fat too.

Alright, thanks. We're probably just going to stick with the ALS then. After all, he's right on the border line of senior IMO :D
