Ive just recently gotten a new pup boxer/pitbull mix and its very hard to find out the general temperate for this "breed'' since it isnt certified byt the AKC so if anyone has any info on this Breed please reply.

not fans of fad breeds here unless he was an oops breed I have three pitbulls.

Depends on which traits he got from which parents. I question a breeder who would mix a boxer with a pitbull.

Well i dont think it was by mistake but its a possibility. The breed is highly protested people saying its a mistake and it shouldnt be crossed, others saying That it is a nice breed and over the years will become official

In the wrong hands, thats a very powerful deadly dog but that can be said about any dog. In the right hands, could be a loving companion.

Hi,

I agree with shredhead, it depends on the temperment of the parents. Im guessing you didn't get to see the parents, again like shredhead said i'd question the breeder (not the most smartest breeder).

Unfortunately i am not familiar with this mix of breeds, have you tried searching online although you can't really tell what it's temperment's like until it grows up.

Im sure he/she will turn out to be a loyal and loving dog provided it's given everything to thrive and be a normal dog :)

i have a pit/american bulldog mix and he's EXCELLENT! Pits, for the most part, make really good family pets. Considering you get one that is from a good breeder who isn't just breeding for money. I haven't had much experience with boxers, though. When I was little my cousin had one, and although hyper up until he died he was really good with people. Although like everyone else has said it depends on his parents and stuff. Our dog is great, and we just enrolled him in obedience training which should make him better (if that is even possible I'm not sure).

depends on the dog, and as said before, depends on the parenting
i too do not like these silly 'fad' breeds,

Im sure with the right training and socialisation he will become a lovely family member, and if he does have the boxer personality then your gonna have lots of fun with him, boxers are fab dogs, and im not just being biased.

Where did you get him? I do not support the mixing of breeds just for profit.

My Aunt had boxer/pit bull mixes. From what my Mom has said, they were nice dogs, but they did attack someone once.

Basset you have it all wrong i dont like dog fighting its sad dont try to accuse me of somthing im not, and also i live in ohio and i got the puppy for free, he is like 12 weeks and currenty has no problems besides the occasionally fleas and ticks.

Who was selling the pup? Some stranger or a friend? And where was he giving them out at? (ie. parking lot, grocery store, pet store, etc.)
This really has nohing to do with anything, just my curiosity :p

A breeder whos a friend of my moms boyfriend was giving him to me from his like i dono how to describe it kennel place that he owned, while he was giving me my puphe was teaching dogs to attack intruders which was cool.

I'm not sure about the boxer/pitbull mix. It would depend on the temperament of the parents. I would like to say that a dog becomes what you help it to become. Give this puppy all the love you have as well as obedience training, and I know you will have a great dog. If you put in boxer pitbull mix in the search part of the internet, you will find some sites that might help you see what your dog may looks like. It might help to read up on both breeds to get an idea of their temperament, etc. I want to say congrats on your new puppy!

How is that cool? That is why there are dogs out there with bad raps because their owners are teaching them to attack other people.

I have been where they teach dogs to attack.that are not police related...it is sad from beginning to end..and eventually end up being a dog that is untrustworthy, and disposable. THere is not a thing cool about it. It is against everything i believe in.
A good dog knows to warn their owners, to bark at intruders but does not NEED TO BE TAUGHT TO BE DANGEROUS. Especially a cross like you have.

I agree Smkie, the main thing people must do is be responsible owners.

that is different then. and yes it is. i got to watch them from an upper level work their way thru the scenerios. I was going thru my emt classes at the time.v Did you see the police dog thread i posted in dog chat..where they showed them in action?
