Where I live, the only places to shop for dog food is petsmart, petland, and supermarkets so what are their best options?

Alot of the food brands that I've read are good for dogs, I have not found there so any ideas?

sometimes places you wouldnt think sell pet food do, like natural or organic food stores or feed stores, places like tractor supply, etc.

We don't have a tractor supply, and our few organic food places don't sell dog food.

Where you guys get your pet food from? Are they local stores?

If it has to be Petsmart, then I second Blue Buffalo. They do have grain-free and limited ingredient versions, too.

I used to drive 45 minutes to get pet food when I lived upstate... Now living in the city I have access to places much closer... there also was a time I just ordered it online and had it delivered, that is always an option as well.

I can understand not being able to drive almost an hour to get dog food. Or not wanting to pay enormous shipping costs to order it online.

Blue Buffalo is a good food. If the Petsmart by you has it, and you want to feed it, then by all means, do so. We can't all afford gas to drive that far to get it or the shipping fees to have it delivered. I'd rather spend the extra money on good food near me for the dog, rather than obtaining that food from elsewhere.

relax, no one said she had to do that... she ASKED where we get our pet food.

I was providing alternative places for her to look if she was interested, I have been shocked at the places I see pet food that I never would have thought to look.

I always had my food delivered FOR FREE.

I think I'll go for the Blue Baffalo one.

I'll see the prices on online foods as well. The biggest problem with that one, I think, is the inconvience of not being able to just get in your car and get it.

you definitely need to not be a procrastinator (which I am!). My dogs LOVED when I ordered online... because we would run out of food and they would get home cooking for a few days, :p

Haha see, Bella is the pickest eater. She won't eat anything strange (which is a good thing when it comes to human food), and that's why the vet thought we should leave her on IAMs until she was old enough and heavy enough to take in new food without getting sick. So I'm worried that if I run out of food, she won't take in anything else.

haha, I guess I would just have to order enough so that there's always dog food around just in case.

But thanks for all the advice. :)

We don't have a PetCo, but a city next to ours does. It would be a really rather short drive so that would work great.

Is that brand better than the Blue Buffalo?

PetCo has a number of very good brands:

Wellness and Solid Gold to add to what Zoom already gave you.

Solid Gold also has small bite formulas which your dog may prefer.

If you can get there it will give you a lot more option which will be good if your dog is a picky eater.

Our local health supplement store for humans carries some good holistic brands of pet food as well. I'd have never thought to look there.

And every single one of our feed stores, including Del's, carries TOTW among Pinnacle and other good brands.
