Reese keeps chewing up all of her beds. She has chewed up comforters, blanket, beds, and... anything in her crate! She only does it when i put her in her crate when I leave the house otherwise she is fine.

I realized it is because of bordem but she has a stufferd kong, a rawhide, and a ball. I'm not going to spend $50+ on a bed that claims to be "indestructable" for her just to go and chew it up. Anyone know how I can break this habit?

P.S. She has chewed a whole XL Kong in half before so I have no idea what to do!

Give her something you don't mind if she shreds up, and then let her sleep on the shreds. :D

Seriously, IMO it's either that or don't give her a bed at all.

Well i can't not give her a bed because she would be on hard metal bars, but whenever she does chew something up she eats the stuffing/shreds and it makes her poop hard and she has a really hard time passing it through so it's not good for her. :(

Usually the crate has a hard plastic or metal liner that goes over the top of the bars on the bottom. Do you have one? If not, I'd see if you can buy one at the pet store to put in the crate. My dogs always liked to lay down on top of the liner.

The thing with that is, she is in there most of the day and that seems really uncomfortable.... I know it sounds like I'm probably being really picky but I want this problem to go away and her to be comfortable while in her crate.

My crates all have pans.. Is the pan removed, or is it a crate like many cocker peopel take to shows with wire also above the pan?

Cider was a bed chewer. She got no bed for 2 years as I was sick of holes in things. Then she was fine.

Don't give young BCs beds in their crates. Ever. They just eat them and most of the time they lay on the hard plastic anyway.

If you for some reason feel bad putting her in a crate without a bed, use a towel or something that won't hurt your pocketbook if she chews up.

All of my BCs grew out of the bed chewing, but all of them were bed chewers under the age of 2.
