UGH! When I was a kid we put up our Christmas decor that spare day off after Thanksgiving........I refuse to do it any earlier than that ;)

As for seeing it in the stores, I do agree that they are getting a little over zealous! PLUS.........I wish a lot of the hype would go out of the holiday personally...........by the time I am done doing all that needs to be done, I just don't enjoy the season anymore.

I have resolved this year that ANYONE NOT living in this house that is on my Christmas list is getting GIFT CARDS..........no fuss, no muss! I am going to do my best to enjoy this Christmas without getting stressed out!

I don't blame the stores, they HAVE to jump into it all early to make sales. and believe it or not, knowing people with shoppes.....the majority of their customers expect it out early....but after Halloween. :) I chat with several people on different decorating forums, and they live for Christmas. that's cool, but while I adore the season, I just don't consider putting up the tree til after Thanksgiving. however...toss in a big snow storm prior, and I'm likely to decorate the mantle just because it feels fun, cozy, and festive. with the early darkness in November, nothing wrong with a little glitz to give a person the feeling of cheer. :)

but..really...you can understand the marketing angle, right? they just are obligated to toss it 'out there'. now..as a consumer, you can decide if it's just too darn early..or you can be thrilled to have merchandise available (me....I shop wayyyyyyyy early, and love it!) but it's not stupid. :) it's life in the retail industry. and when retail does well...it helps the economy. and face it........we are ALL going to shop, so what the heck! some shop early, some shop late. but the stores make sure it's available to us no matter what we desire.
