I know some mushrooms can be poisonous to even people. But today while I was outside playing with my daughter I found some wild mushrooms growing. This is in an area where Kota is normally tied out for some fresh air and to potty. I pulled all the mushrooms up that I could find. My question is are mushrooms poisonous to dogs and if so what species of mushrooms?

lol. Well considering this is an area where Kota relieves herself I don't think I could wash it enough to insert them in my mouth! lol.

That pretty dangerous advice, assuming that wild mushrooms are OK unless you enjoy Russian Roulette with 4 out of 6 chambers loaded with a live bullet.

I guess I would tend to be cautious and ask a vet. Even if the mushroom itself isn't poisonous, I think it could possibly still contain toxic mold.

Mushrooms are toxic to dogs. I wouldn't feed them and would avoid them.

I know some people that have given their dogs a mushroom or two...even onions which are considered highly toxic, and their dogs were fine...heck I've given my dogs cooked onions in the past when I didn't realize they were toxic...they are still alive and kicking lol

...I'm sure your dog wouldn't hit the bucket after a mushroom or two...but again, I would avoid em.

Some mushrooms are...but I don't know which one's. I just keep Tira and Gunner away from all mushrooms that I see. Better safe than sorry.

Yes I think that is best. Hopefully I pulled them all up. I suppose I'll have to keep a closer eye on the yard for awhile. Hopefully winter kills them all.

A freind of mine used to pick wild mushrooms in the woods near his home for eating. He had a thick book all about mushrooms and studied it all the time. He said if you ate the wrong type mushroom it would kill you pretty quickly....

It definately is mushroom season!

We've had a few of those white mushrooms crop up in the backyard.

Riot thought they were fun to bat around with his paws - he got them taken away from him and thrown out lol

A lady with Pomeranian puppies/breeders let them out in her backyard and they ended up eating the "common" mushrooms found in yards. Over half of them died, the other half were in serious condition.
