The Pumi boys are growing and with adolescence comes more hair and dirt on the carpet and floors.

I saw that i-Robot came out with a Roomba for Pets. It's a special design to prevent the hair from getting wound around the internal workings and supposedly it does a great job of doing the vacuuming.

Is anyone using the Roomba for Pets or another Roomba-type vacuum cleaner? It's looking very appealing to me these days.

Thanks!

I wouldn't consider one because I envision that my cats would never let a moving thing like that live very long. lol.

We had the roomba and the mop-thingy called the scooba.

The dogs decided that they were satan's instruments of doom, and harrassed them so much that we sent them back. They did work when the dogs were locked up, but otherwise they were just about useless with all the canine interference.

I have a Roomba and it works really well. Herschel doesn't shed and I brush Nala often enough that her hair isn't a problem. However, it did a great job of picking up toy fragments, crumbs, etc.

I'm trying to sell mine right now because I have a Eureka Smartboss and just bought a Hoover SteamVac. 3 vacuums is a little bit ridiculous.

One word about the Roomba.............

A person on another forum (dobe forum) had one. Her dog was out and about through the day.........it was grown/trustworthy etc... Well one day the dog got ill and had an accident by the front door (it was diarhea I believe) and the Roomba came right along and proceeded to spread, smear, and make a gigantic mess of it. Really ground it into the area rug and what not. I believe she said the Roomba was toast as it was just so disgusting after that................

Just wanted to share this with you in case you plan on having your dogs loose inside the home in the future :)

My parents have one, they use it in the kitchen. They just have the regular model, and I don't think they've had great experiences with it on carpet, but they use it to pick up crumbs and such in the kitchen.

They say it is okay for keeping the place fairly clean but that they still need to run a real vaccuum every so often.

They just lock the cat out of the kitchen when they are running it so he doesn't interfere.

That is an excellent point I hadn't imagined and certainly in not in such... vivid... detail. My thought was to schedule it to run at night while they're in the bedroom with me or during late night tv watching just before bed.

Hmmm. I will have to think about that.

I run mine at night when the dogs are in the bedroom asleep. We've never had any problems with it.

I've actually found that it works better on carpet for me than it does on floors. Like I said, though, I'm not lazy--I'm willing to spend the time vacuuming so Roomba was just another fun toy that has gone by the wayside.

*Still looking for a buyer. It's only been used a handful of times*

:lol-sign: Sorry if I grossed you out, I didn't mean to. Just a tidbit I thought you should know if you do get one.........hehehhehehhe

Running it at night sounds like a good plan, I really don't know what she was thinking running it through the day with the dog loose and her not home

hmm, ive always thought a roomba would be cool (i hate vacuming), id have to run it at night, dodger things anythign that moves independantly (ie with a motor) like a rc car is fun to attack and destroy, but nighttime use would be cool!

Just back from vacation. I'll post some more pics of the guys soon.

Thanks to everyone for all their replies on this. I understand iRobot is coming out with a new model next month and I'm hoping that the new model will either be greatly improved or the current models will go on sale for clearance.
