Considering the dogs that tend to be around northern communities, and the fact that they can survive wild I would say a mix of Malamute and other primitive northern breeds. With a feral breeding 'program' its not surprising that the pups would look different and not 'typey'

The size, structure, coat says Malamute not husky to me, perhaps some Sammy too. I don't see any collie.

But, it is possible for that "wild" dog to breed with a domestic one.

Not being in your situation, I can't be 100%, but is it possible you're using the term wild when you mean feral? Wild would be like wolves, foxes, deer, etc. Feral would be a domestic breed or mix born in the wild or haivng been on it's own long enough to revert back to wild tendencies. I'm also wondering if the pups were simply a litter someone dumped. Whatever his background, Dexter is lucky to have you!
Yeah...feral sounds more right (english is not my first language). The really vast majority of dogs on northern reservations have no owner. They are just strays who stick around hoping to get food thrown their way once in a while.

And strays tend to reproduce, not being neutered. Once in a while, they go on a killing spree to clean the place. Which is how Dex lost his mom and half his litter very young and figured it was better to hide under a balcony. He was also probably beaten up at one point.

That's pretty much what I thought you were trying to say. For someone who's first language isn't English, you do a pretty good jjob with it! Better than some people I know who's first language is English.

He's beautiful! I'll guess Chow x Husky.

Or, after seeing the photo with his brothers...German Shepherd x Great Pyrenees?

GSD / Samoyed? The one brother really looks Shepherdy.

It's been a while, but I finally got some pictures of his parents (and him as a puppy). Maybe it'll help some of you solve this mystery!

Mom and dad:

As a puppy (omg!)

A bit older, a week or two before I got him:

More of his mom:
