Sadly, no news. I've been watching every day, and I know they would do a follow-up because alot of people would be so happy, especially the family. I still have hope, but then again I can't believe he wouldn't show up at someone's house. He obviously is a very loving dog. Believe me, if I hear anything about him being found...I will be on here shouting!

That dog is a REAL hero, I'm not sure if a human would actually do that... That dog is a dog that comes around once in a blue moon... If he is dead, I will appreciate that boxer even more. That dog risked his OWN life for another, you only see that stuff in movies. Major, I salute to you!

Major, the hero Boxer, is alive and back at home!

Dear all,

My girlfriend told me about this amazing story a few days ago and she too was waiting for news..that never came. I don't know why they didnt follow up with this story but the good news is Major is back home and safe...and healthy. I googled this news story (after considerable effort) and came across this forum whilst I was searching, so I registered especially to let you all know the happy ending too!

God is great...all the time! :)

Ciao,
Anthony

Four-Legged Hero Back Home in Ligonier

"Major," the dog that chased a bear that got too close to his family, is back home safe and sound

Jul 14, 2005 10:56 am US/Eastern
Ligonier (KDKA) It's what a local family has been hoping for since their protective pooch disappeared after fighting off a black bear: their four-legged hero is back home safe and sound with the family.

Bill and Dawn Rusko have been hailing their boxer, "Major," a hero for potentially saving their children from bear attack outside their Ligonier home last Sunday.

The family dog went after the bear -- twice -- as it headed straight the front yard where Corey Rusko, 11, was playing with his sister and cousin.
"I owe him my life. He's a brave, strong dog -- and he really deserves to live a full, healthy life!" -- Corey Rusko
Major had been missing since he chased the bear back into the woods.

Last night, though, the family found their beloved pet in the woods about a mile from home.

Major lost a little weight and a few wounds, but is otherwise okay.

His family welcomed him home with his favorite food -- pork chops. :)

THANK YOU, Anthony! That is wonderful news!

And I hope you come back and join us. If that's your Boxer in your profile you've certainly got a happy, healthy and handsome dog.

OMG..Anthony...THANKS SO MUCH for the update! I happened to peek in the forum and this caught my eye. I confess...maybe they DID follow-up on the story, but who always watches the HOURS of news?!! I'm so happy...love the happy ending. :) My friends had a boxer named Comet. Their dog was such a wonderful, dedicated family dog that after her passing they vowed to never get another...they feel they could never replace such a beloved pet. I think I love boxers even more now.....:) Course, I think many of our pets would do the same. I really appreciate you making the effort to give us this news. :) THANKS again.
