Consumer reports has always, as far as I've been concerned, been full of sh1t. They've claimed for years that because they don't accept advertising they are "free agents," but . . . where does the money come from? It sure doesn't come from the price of subscriptions. That won't even begin to cover it.

When I can't see who or what is financially backing something I figure they've got plenty to hide.

That article . . . Talk about talking straight outta your ass.

Riiiight "no pet ever got sick from cheap food" my foot! And yet my old dog kept getting ear infections and UTI's from Ol' Roy that went away when we put her on Iams (this was years and years ago before P&G bought them out and significantly lowered the quality).

CR is full of crap.

Well, they did say this:

We asked eight experts in dog and cat nutrition at seven top veterinary schools what you get by spending more for pet food. (Note: All but one have received some funding from the pet-food industry.)
Big shocker, their responses.....

I don't know...I really like consumer reports. We've bought cars, microwaves, tv's, stereos, and I can't think of what else based on their reports, and I have yet to be disappointed.

It's known on this message board that vets don't get sufficient nutritional information in vet school. Yet, to someone who normally reviews computer printers, if you were given the assignment to review pet food, who would you go to? I would certainly think vets knew more than random internet people.

Dunno. I'm not ready to write off CR. I really like them.
