Well, I have gained 3 pounds and I was 121 pounds... And I want to be at that weight for a while... I am 5"7, and weigh 124 pounds.. And I feel fat all the time for some reason.. And I wear a size 11 in Juniors.. And I hear people that are 107 or so at my height.. Ug, I am soo sensitive about my weight.. I jog every so often down to my grandma's and back. Its a field away, therefore I am allowed. I just get so worried that I am going to get fat, because my mom's sister's are overweight, my sister is overweight... I don't know, what do you guys think?

That is not overweight!! I am 5'2 and when I graduated high school I was about 120-125. I have since lost some weight(not trying to), but 107 is not exactly healthy for someone who is 5'7" I don't think. The chart for 5'7" starts at 123 for small body types.

Wanting to prevent yourself from becoming overweight is a good thing though. I would just say make sure to get into the habit of eating fruits and veggies and drinking water. It is also great to get in the habit of exercising. Not to loose weight, but just too be healthy in general.

I agree- that is definately not overweight!

One of my best friend's in highschool was 5'9" and weighed 145... she always worried about her weight, yet did not look heavy at all.

^^^^ agree !! Don't forget that jogging adds muscle ...more weight , but good weight !! Everyone has a different build .....a 5'7" can be normally willowy or healthily built with more muscle . It's the fat you watch for .

You're not overweight. The people who are 107 at your height sound anorexic and probably should seek help. I don't think that's healthy.

I've 5'11" and 150 lbs and I'm pretty gaunt. So 125 for a 5'7" sounds about right.

Overweight isn't really a good way of looking at it, as your weight is also determined by things like muscle.
If you really want an indication of health, get a body fat analysis.

I'm a healthy weight and I'm 5'6" and weigh around 130 pounds. Not many people that are 5'7" weigh 107... they would have to be very small boned and very thin. It's normal to feel the way you do, but it doesn't mean that you're overweight. Just focus on being healthy, try to stay positive, and you'll be okay. :)

first off, fluctuating weight is no big deal. I kid you not when i say that 2 days ago i weighed in at 112.8, and now i am 117.9. And i am using an extremely accurate scale.

Anyways, your BMI is 19.4...if you are not familiar with BMI, here is the 'scale':

* Underweight = <18.5
* Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
* Overweight = 25-29.9
* Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

So you are obviously at a great weight for your height, and a little underweight if anything.

Now nothing is wrong with staying fit, and maintaining your weight, but your focus should def be on exercising and eating healthy...There is no need to be trying to diet or anything crazy like that!!

I agree with everyone else. You are NOT overweight and 107lbs is seriously underweight and anyone over 5 foot tall should never want to be that small. Heck even people who are 5' should probably put on a couple of pounds if they get down to that weight.

And just for the record...it's true what they say, "You create what you fear". Stop worrying about your weight, forget about it. :) Don't waste energy on that fear, it's not worth your time. Remember that there are truely overweight people all over the world who wish they were as small as you. :D

Ugh not BMI...
That is worse then judging by your weight... simply because people take it as a holy grail of do you need to loose fat.

BMI is just a ratio of how much you weigh to how tall you are... it doesn't take into account the amount of muscle, bone density (for example if you happen to be fine boned or thick boned).
Example: a buddy of mine used to be a body builder(entered a bunch of competitions and everything)
He was 6ft 4inches and weighed 260lbs. He had less then 10% body fat at all times and he was built like an upside down pyramid.
According to BMI he would be obesse... the guy excersized all the time, watched what he ate religiously and again had half the national average of body fat content (average in Canada is 19% for men)

Very few people are trying to loose muscle when they loose weight, they are trying to loose fat.
Find out how much body fat you have and you can find out if you need to loose any of that fat or if you are infact under the ideal fat content percentage. For men it's 14-15% women I believe is 22% but don't quote me on that one.

Agree 100%.

Numbers on a scale are NOT the way to determine if you are "fat" or fit.

you arent over weight. thats actually a really good weight for your height. i have a friend that is 5'8 and she weighs 135 and she looks so thin! and healthy!
the bmi thing is never right on the internet! cause i put my height and my weight it said i was overly obese! and then i put 130 for my weight and it says im still over weight and my ideal weight for my height is 95 pounds!!!!

Here's a link to what I'm talking about for the body fat thing as opposed to weight loss.

http://www.healthchecksystems.com/bodyfat.htm

It does an alright job of explaining the key differences between weight loss and fat loss.
For anybody serious about trimming up, find out how much fat you need to loose (remember fat takes up 3 times more space then weight so that's what your really trying to be rid of)

Wow, if your 16, and it says you need to be 95 I am really screwed! :p I am 15 and somewhere between 125-130.

Back to the original post, I think your the right weight. You may weigh that because of the ammount of muscle you have, or your height. But If your really worried about it, I would go see a doc, though, I think theres nothing to be worried about.

I'm almost 5'7 and weigh 125, and I also have quite a bit of muscle. You are not fat! 107 is too skinny for your height. I am really happy at my weight bc I did weigh 135, and I was happy there, but I feel so good now from working out and eating better. Clothes fit better, etc.

An 11 in Juniors! If you can still wear Juniors clothes, then you should know you are not fat. I am a 4 in women's, down from being a 6. I have a bit of a booty on me, like J. Lo so I will never be able to be back in Junior's clothes, LOL!

Trust me, i KNOW what BMI is, and i KNOW it is not the best judge...HOWEVER, i am just trying to show Spirit, a teenage girl, that she does NOT need to be losing weight. She is not an olympic athlete or a bodybuilder or anything, if she was, I am smart enough to know not to bring BMI into this conversation.

The BMI is a decent enough indicator just to see if a normal person is in a good weight range, WHICH SPIRIT IS.

To get your body fat checked you need to have someone do it for you, and from what i have read from Spirit's posts, it doesnt seem like her family is willing to pay for her to be getting this checked every few months. So telling her that information is pretty pointless.

ugh! you are NOT overweight! when i was 21 i was 5'4" and weighed 123 and all my friends thought i was turning anorexic! i was so TINY and thought i was fat. the problem with insecurities is that they make life like a fun house mirror - all distorted. i look back on those pictures and want to go back and slap myself for being ridiculous and give myself a shake and tell me to start enjoying life!

a couple things to consider: worrying about being thinner is dangerous to your health. when you are a teen/young woman, your body is preparing for someday having a child and needs more fat than it will when you are older. it needs lots of nutrients to continue with internal growth! also, most guys prefer women with more curves than are seen in women's fashion magazines. my husband, for instance, thinks those girls are hideous and sickly looking!

being in shape is a good thing, but you need to feed your body. especially at this time in your life!
