Yes, because we all know you can learn about a person from what they say on a public internet forum, anonymously. I always base my opinions about people that way.

I have had it happen to me. So it does happen. Maybe you dont do it, but many people base their opinions off of what you say on a forum.

I form opinions about what people say. I try very hard to not form solid opinions about who the person is. Being human, I often fail at this.... But I try.

More people should do that.

Well, darn .. I haven't been here long enough to get any nasty PM's!

Guess I'm going to have to try harder .. *LOL*

My outlook on this is that there's nothing I'm afraid to say in public so there's no reason to go to PM. And if someone sends me a PM message, that message then belongs to me and I can share it wherever I want .. *grin* .. but mostly I just ignore those messages. I just sit back and think "they're waiting for a reply .... " .. *LOL*

As far as the flames and arguments go - there's just no way you can bring together a group of diverse people like this and not have disagreements. The people here would probably not mix together as a whole. We have only one thing truly in common and that's the dogs. You'll find other things in common with some, but as a group that's all we have.

I've been online for nine years now, been on a GSD and Chow email list that whole time. We've found that we do pretty well as long as we avoid religion and politics .. *L*

And in all honesty, if you look at the threads where there are disagreements, arguments, even flaming - those are the threads that get the most views! People LIKE seeing that stuff. It's kind of like driving past a car wreck .. you just can't help but look. If a person didn't like the arguing, they simply don't have to click on that thread.

Now, the lists that REALLY fight are the ones made of just trainers. Whew!! Somehow I can't get them to figure out that I'm always right! :D :D

Agree with you here. I form my opinions about what people say on public forums. That way if they're mean, I won't talk to them through pms if it keeps happening. At the same time, I learn the limits I have and other people have as well.

Really, I'm not all that worried about Pm's. If somebody is nasty through them it's best not to give them the satisfaction of a reply. There are those who like to needle a bit through them. After a few of those, when you finally have enough and fire off a reply, they send a copy to every one of their "friends". "Look how MEEEAANNN they are to me!"

I've learned (from a different forum) to ignore for the most part. If anything I might send them a Pm saying, "Thanks for sharing" and a link to a search for a Psychiatrist page.

I can send you one if you like. That way you can be part of the "crew". LOL

I am a Evil Conservative, I am good at being mean. While I am at it, I might just go chop down some trees and tow them away in my "Canyonaro" V18 .8 MPG SUV!

LOL

You have to make it fun. What is more fun online than tossing a grenade into a fight? :)

It often ends up in quotable material. LOL
