Some of the granular formula ingredients are now posted on the web:

I'm feeding "classic" but have used some other formulas (BASIC & Maintenance and Stress). Nothing but great results and very, very pleased (as with previous years) with my dogs work in the field this past hunting season. She loves pointing birds and can literally work all day!

Mmmm Meat and bone meal... I think I'm going to be ill. Abady has some of the nastier foods out there. By posting the ingredients all you did was prove it.. why?

Why? Well, just supplying the info but not out to prove anything. I guess we all feed what we feel is best for our dogs.

Lard? Eww. Never heard of the food before and I kinda understand why...
I kinda understand why you very rarely see lard in dog food. Pork fat is the most expensive fat for manufacturers to purchase and that would cut into profit margin.

The problem with just listing the ingredients is that you have to read the rest of the site. Most dog food companies when they say meat meal, that means they are not sure what animal it came from (and often includes road kill, sick animals, waste from grocery stores-complete with packaging) Abady claims they don't use any 4-D meats, so that shouldn't be an issue.

But really I think they should at least name what animal the meal is coming from. Lard is fine by me..its just animal fat, but it could come from various sources, not just pork, or beef (tho that is the most likely). And bone meal is fine too-just would like to know who's bones they are.

I don't think Abady is bad..but it wouldn't be my top choice as I like to have more info on what my dogs are actually eating. But that might be why I make my own raw ;)
