    Charlie Update (and others)

Been a while since I've been on and posted anything about Charlie since his surgery. Figured I'd post some pictures of him since he turned 1 in February. He's still a wild child, though getting better, still chases the cat every now and then, and now his new favorite thing...jump the fence...

    Charlie and Sadie(picture heavy)

Kind of an update on Charlie post surgery. He's doing great, healed great, just with some pretty severe scar tissue, but most of his hair has grown back, and he's grown a lot! Here's some pictures of Sadie and Charlie in the yard playing. Sometimes I still can't get over how much more mass...

First idiot dog owner encounter tonight

Took charlie on a good long walk tonight and towards the end of our walk we came across a girl in her 20s walking her small little dog don't remember what it was on a leash....but her very large, 80-90 pound lab (head came up to my hip, and I'm 6 foot) not on a leash, despite the leash law here...

    Need help with charlie

Ever since charlie has gotten back from the vet, he pee's in the kennel while we're gone. I'm pretty sure its because he was at the vet for so long he probably got used to peeing in the kennel, and now thinks that is an appropriate place to go. When he's out of the kennel he does fine, never...

    Charlie,Sadie, and Reesie

Some new photos I finally got developed. Havent shot film in years, and I must say Walgreen does a HORRIBLE job at developing!! They were so washed out, these are after I tried to digitally save them. Can you say Derp face? Shows the difference between the two perfectly. Charlie...

    Update on charlie's abscess

We had to take Charlie back up to the vet yesterday. His abscess had gotten larger than it was before, and didn't seem the antibiotic they gave us was working. They drew more fluid out, less puss this time, mostly plasma. The doctor told us it was about 50% better but is still concerned about...

    What's for dinner?

Charlie is such a good match for Sadie. They are opposites, both in coloration and temperament.

    Indoor games

Does any body have any indoor games to keep a puppy busy? Lately it's been raining half the day, especially at night, and so it's hard to get the dogs outside so they can play, and the lack of play has made them a little rambunctious in the house. Which has made Charlie resort to more...

Best way to teach a puppy the cat is not a toy or playmate.

Title says it all. Our new puppy Charlie, which I think narrowed him down to a Black Mouth Curr/Lab mix, is quite brave and not easily deterred by our 4 year old cat. He occasionally likes to chase, corner and then "play" with her. Obviously our cat doesn't see this as fun, so she swats at...

Lump on the back of the neck

A week or so ago we noticed what we thought was fat around the back of Charlie's neck, didn't think much of it at first since he's a puppy. However, now it hasn't gone away and is becoming more concentrated to the side of the neck towards his shoulder blade. We were feeling around this...

    Charlie actually a Rhodesian mix?

I'm actually beginning to think our new puppy Charlie (who is getting huge!) is actually a Rhodesian mix, rather than the GSD/Lab mix. Any thoughts? at 5.5 months He has a very distinct zig-zig on his tail which i have also seen in other Rhodesian mixes. Hard to see it all...

    Kibble suggestion

Given the recent, and reoccurring recalls of diamond brand food I've decided I no long want to risk buying their food and I'm looking for a new kibble. Almost her whole life, we've had sadie on Diamond Naturals and TOTW, and we've had our new puppy, charlie, on the same food. I'm looking for...

    New Puppy in the house

We just rescued a puppy from a local animal shelter a few days ago. It would have been his last day. He's 16 weeks old and from what we can gather, he's a German Shepherd/Yellow Lab mix. He's very smart, energetic, great on a leash and rather dominant towards our 3 year old black lab, Sadie. He...

    New behavior

So, I'm slightly worried, but I didn't freak out about it because I know how to handle Sadie. But last night we had some friends over and they have a 3 year old girl. Sadie hasn't had much contact with small children and really isn't sure what to think of them, after she warmed up to her she was...

    Labs always look so serious?

Do all labs have such a serious look on their face? Sadie always has a look on her face like she's trying to burn a hole through something except when she pants. Maybe it's the pit in her?

    Rolling in the grass??

If it's any relevance Sadie is now 15 months old. Went outside today as usual after I fed her to play with her and let her go potty. However, today she seemed very uninterested in playing with her toy and more interested in sniffing certain areas of the ground. I didn't think much of it as she...

    Really starting to get mad

Out of freakin no where sadie has started eating stuff out of our cats litter box and making me rather mad. We turned the litter box towards the corner of the wall so only the cat can get in,and she just pushes it out and goes in there. We can't ever catch her doing it either because she always...

    Sadie's acting strange...

Lately sadie hasn't been eating. She'll go over to her food look at it and walk away. She'll only eat if I put cheese on top of it or something. She also will walk up to us while we're sitting down and whine like she has to go out. Her stools are fine, she's not throwing up, she also seems to be...
