Lately sadie hasn't been eating. She'll go over to her food look at it and walk away. She'll only eat if I put cheese on top of it or something. She also will walk up to us while we're sitting down and whine like she has to go out. Her stools are fine, she's not throwing up, she also seems to be sleeping more than usual.

How long has she been not eating? How old is she? Is she usually a good eater? Is she drinking normally?

I generally won't wait more than a day to go to a vet when mine aren't eating. It could be anything from a little stomach upset to a dental problem to something more serious.

She's a couple weeks shy of being a year now. Its been going on for a couple days now,and has always been a good eater, and has been drinking ok,a little less than normal as well. She seems to want to go outside alot more than usual. I saw her eat something in the yard several days ago before i could get to her. I think it may have been a mushroom or something, but I figured it would have had a more immediate effect on her.

if she's usually a good eater and suddenly she's not, i'd say a vet visit is very appropriate.

is she spayed?

JPuckett1989,

Please let us know how Sadie is doing. If you took her to the vet, what did they say?

I think I found out what her problem is. She's be probably at this point very dehydrated. We go tired of filling her water bowl up 10 times a day so we bought one of these Amazon.com: Petmate Le Bistro Waterer with Microban: Kitchen & Dining and apparently being the big sissy that she is,she's scared because when she drinks out of it it makes the big gurgle noise when the bowl refills so she hasn't been drinking. Out of curiousity I filled up her old bowl and sat it down and she drank the entire thing.

I guess we'll just buy her a gigantic bowl.

So sadies back to eating. However, strangely, she usually doesn't eat until we've gone outside, she's done her buisness and has exercised hard for 30 minutes or more, then she'll come inside, cool down, and then eat. Anybody elses dog do this?
