I'm ashamed of myself when it comes to Hispanics ! Could be because they don't look you in the eye and speak English !! I let one ahead of me at the grocery as he had only 2 items . Not a smile , nod or Gracia ! Just as if it was owed to him .

^^^we have those ones here too... and yes, I feel the same way. I don't hate them just because. But I am definatley wary of walking by them when they're in groups, since I been on the recieving end of countless lewd comments/whistles/etc... and it makes me uncomfortable to walk infront of them alone. but I have met many that are very nice... so once I get to know them I'm fine.

My sister, who is white, used to date a boy who was black. We all liked him, but they did get some crap for being a biracial couple. My sister was never able to invite him to Thanksgiving dinner in Pennsylvania while they were dating because my uncle's father is a bigot and it would have just been a mess.

In this area there is a lot of racism against Hispanic people. But they are behaving in such a way that they are bringing it on themselves. Well, the men are anyways, not so much the women. I've met and liked many Hispanic women that I have worked alongside, and they were very nice people. I don't judge people, but I am wary of Hispanic men until I see that they are one of the nice ones, not one of the perverted ones that likes to make lewd gestures at my sister in traffic.
See, I think that is just so sad. I cant even imagine being in his shoes.

I used to live in Arizona and I've been to Mexico. I've met a lot of mexican people. Yes, some of the men are perverted, but I think you can say the same about any other race. Some men are just that way, but I dont think race really has anything to do with it. I've also met some Mexican men who were complete gentlemen. It depends on the person you meet. And I cannot stand perverted men.

lol@perverted men.

Most men I know that I'd call jerk or perverted have been white...around age 18-25 and in college...usually frat members...lmbo. Or how about the old construction worker stereotype? They're not all hispanic are they?

PEOPLE, are perverted sometimes...if we're generalizing...there's mine.

I think it depends on the area. In this area there is every race you can think of: white, black, Asian, Hispanic, Indian (from India), Pakastani, Arab, you name it. But ask around, the stories you hear are about Hispanic people, not anything else. I'm not trying to generalize, but if you were in my area, you would understand.

In Pennsylvania where my grandmother lives (near Washington PA), there are maybe three people of other races, and everyone else is white. Thus, you would hear more stories of white people doing these things. It depends on the population.

I'm not saying that "people" aren't perverted... you should hear some of the things that come out of my mouth! LOL.

The difference is that, most people don't shout lewd things out at someone walking by them. I'm not saying I haven't had white boys(and yes mostly college aged kids) shout or whistle or say things when I'm walking down the street... but I would say 90% of the times it's from a group of hispanic men. What nationality exactly they are I don't know. I've also known a great deal of really really really great hispanic men... infact, I used to work with this guy Roberto, and he was one of those loud, lewd hispanic men. When I got to know him he was a great guy, but I still felt uncomfortable with the way he talked to women. He stopped doing it to me when I told him that, but still did it to other women. all the hispanic women I have met though, have been very nice! and very helpful too!

On topic with the thread, I do want to say that I don't use racial slurs and that I do find them offensive, except as someone mentioned those ones for white people. Those are amusing to me also.

Dumb is a term used to describe someone who is mute.

Just like "lame" is described as someone who cannot walk.

This is why I'm not offended by the word 'retarded', though I think it's better not said. But I think it's stupid to pick one term as horrid to use because people suffer from retardation, when words that are so often used ALSO describe people who suffor.

So if we can't use the word retarded, it should also be wrong to use the words lame & dumb.

Don't get me wrong, I don't say retarded. I just think the idea of retarded being bad and others not is.. silly.

As for racial slurs, I think all are wrong. However, I also think it's wrong when anyone of any race uses the N word. And I don't think it's okay for certain races to call me a cracker.

However, society today tells me that certain people of race can call me a white girl or a cracker and it's ok. But if I were to ever say any sort of racial slur(not that I ever would) to any person of different race I should be burned at the stake. It's OK for some people to be racist, as long as your not white.

First off, I'm with the crowd that says "I would have never noticed that" when it came to Reggin's name. In fact, every time I read it I think of Reggie Bush....and then the Saints....and then Geaux Saints! lol

IMO those who notice such things are the same ones who make a big to-do over "hidden messages" in Disney movies which nobody would've noticed unless they were pointed out and those who insists that someone meant something completely else with their words when in fact, the words meant exactly what the person saying them wanted them to mean. This whole witch-hunt for hidden meanings & messages is absurd and people need to find a better use of their time.

As for racism, yes I live in southeastern Louisiana and it is prevalent here. However, it goes every way imaginable. Hell, the mayor of New Orleans made headlines first when he stated he wanted to return his city to a "chocolate city" and then when he stated that he wanted all the "spics" out of his city (after hurricanes Katrina & Rita). And yet, that ignorant asshole actually got re-elected.

Maybe I'm going off-topic here, but I remember an incident in 8th grade that prompted me to walk out of the class and never go back. In fact, it was the first day of class and I walked out, went to the principal's office and told them I wanted a new teacher. Why? Well, I walked into my Louisiana history class and just randomly picked a seat (which happened to be somewhat at the front of the class because I'm blind....I sat in the front of every class for this reason). Well, once the bell rang, the teacher stood up and told everyone, "Get up! All the whites go to the back of the classroom, all the African Americans come to the front. Now you in the front sit down. For all you whites, now it's your turn to see how it feels. Sit the hell down!"

I never sat down and I marched my "white", although if you want to get technical my dad's parents immigrated from Denmark and my mom's parents were Native American (Cherokee to be exact), butt on out that class and I never went back. I had many friends who were forced to stay in the class and they hated it...and my friends were black, white, and polka-dotted. They all said the same thing.

I personally don't use racial slurs. The only "slurs" I use are to call trash "trash" and the lazy "lazy." I don't care what race or ethnicity they are and I sure don't care about color. One thing you'll find in Louisiana is that we are a great mix of people. The Creoles and Cajuns are a mix of all races. And those like my husband, who are cajun, actually have hispanic last names....so figure that one out.

One thing I AM tired of is being forced to apologize for things I did not do. And things my parents, and grandparents, and greatgrandparents did not do. And if people want to get nasty about it, I'll gladly stand and fight.

By no means should we ignore hatred, but it's **** time that we opened our eyes and realized that history is history and that racism is not a one-way street.

And for the record, my future sis-in-law is black thus making my little nephew a wonderful mix. He's gorgeous. But I've heard more "half-breed" comments from people than I care to think about. And to be honest, none have come from the "white" side.

on the topic of reggins name :
Oh puh-lease. Yes reggins, people hate you and want to pick at every little thing. *rolleyes* you made a post explaining the name, what it was backwards, you pointed it out, you let us know, you don't want to call attention to yourself.. Well.. Shouldn't have picked it out. I don't know what other forum you are on, and I can't say I care. Perhaps chaz is a bit smarter... We mustbe crazy that we get offended by that disgusting word.

But, there really IS a penis and the f-word on the original 80's VHS tape cover of the Little Mermaid! :yikes:

And Alice in Wonderland is really strange, Jefferson Airplane even wrote a song about it. :lol-sign:

LOL. And I really was able to pause The Lion King just right to see "SEX" written in the clouds. I'm not saying they don't exist. It doesn't surprise me that those who make the movie insert little inside jokes here & there.

But supposedly it was a 4-year-old boy from Shreveport, LA who spotted the word "sex" written in the clouds........Puh-lease. It took half an hour of me sitting 3 inches from the t.v. pressing pause, rewinding, pressing pause, rewinding, etc. to finally see it.

And for the record, I'm a Disney movie maniac. I have over 70 cartoons on VHS, over 40 on DVD and I also love all the old movies such as "The Ugly Dachshund", "The Horse In the Gray Flannel Suit", "The Parent Trap", "The Love Bug", etc.

Regging didn't point it out... it was pointed out by others

Say's the person with a dog named reggin.
I thought you said your fiance named Reggin. Why are you still with him then, since he seems so fond of racial slurs?
After her first post before she said anything to do with the dogs name.

I am not talking about this page. Reggin never hid what her username, or her dogs name was backwards. So i'd hate for her to be surprised that people are just that smart, and were able to figure it out.

Why would she hide her dogs name or furthermore can you even hide your user name and again why would you...
Personally the thought didn't occur to me... looks like it didn't occur to lots of people.

And this might be off-topic, but people.....there are quite a few people out there with dogs named "N*gger." In fact, a very famous APBT had that name and many out there copy it much as they do "Dibo" and "Chinaman" and whatever else.

I've had to go out into the waiting room many a times and call someone by their first name vs. the dog's name all because the dog's name was "N*gger." However, I've never seen a white person with a dog named that. Is there a double-standard?

Reggin in a thread a few months ago pointed out that her dog's name was obscene spelled backwards. None of the chaz members came up with it.
